Hi Guys, As you all know at present the house extension rules have been relaxed and I was thinking of doing an extension up 4-5 metres for which I will need prior approval. Sticking glass picture to wall
I've just had a glass splashback made with an image on it. I was under the impression that the image was sandwitched between a couple of glass layers, but it's just stuck on the rear of the glass. It is/was my intention to stick it to the wall but i'm concerned that whatever adhesive i use may leach through into the image…

switching ceiling light by remote
Want to install ceiling lighting in my ground floor lounge. I can just about get a live feed to the proposed location by lifting upstairs boards, but onward wiring to a wall switch would be a nightmare. Anyone know of a suitable, fairly unobrtusive sensor that could be mounted on the lounge ceiling and wired into the light…

Halogen oven tripping electrics
Hi I woke up at about 4am on Christmas day. Turned a light on. Nothing. I noticed a tv was on standby. But our router ( downstairs was off). I identified that the halogen oven tripped the fuse box. The side with downstairs sockets and upstairs lights. What could be causing the oven to trip?

Back door making the wall shake?
Hi, when we close our back door the exterior wall appears to "move" - not looked outside but it certainly moves on the inside. This is more apparent whenever the door is slammed (I tell my lot at home not to slam it, but the inevitably do). How can we stop this please? What could it be? We have had a new back door…

Sliding wardrobe doors
Used them no bother earlier last night. Went to go back and neither door will slide open. I think one side has maybe come off the track at the end in the middle behind other door. Unable though to manoeuvre it back as no space. Am I right in thinking the outer one will have to be removed first.

Shower tray install problem
So bought a shower tray awhile ago & eventually got round to trying to fit it ! Problem is that the outer walls of the tray are not vertical they slope which leaves a gap of 1/2 inch plus at the top rather than siting tight to the wall. Is this normal or are there vertically sided trays ? The tray is 6 inches tall. Fitting…

replacing felt underneath concrete roof tiles
In the course of the water leaking through my roof onto the ceiling of a room, I have been told that the roof felt underneath the concrete roof tiles is obviously the original felt (ie 1970s) and has gone brittle and awful with age and will need replacing entirely. I have been told that the process of doing this involves…

Water ingress above window
Any body able to tell me why/how and what to do? In this extreme weather water is coming in from what appears to be a newly formed crack in the 'lintel area' above a window. For now have dried up and put a towel under to absorb any more water (too long a crack for buckets, so frequently changed towels seems best)
