Back door making the wall shake?

Hi, when we close our back door the exterior wall appears to "move" - not looked outside but it certainly moves on the inside.

This is more apparent whenever the door is slammed (I tell my lot at home not to slam it, but the inevitably do).

How can we stop this please? What could it be?

We have had a new back door installed recently but it also did this with the old back door (both upvc doors).

Please help?!

Is the wall (brickwork) moving or just the lining - plasterboard etc?

    Have you got buildings insurance?
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • Yeh I have buildings insurance. I need to check if the brickwork outside is moving or not, def seen the plaster moving.

I doubt whether buildings insurance would cover this. Insurance is not intended to provide you with free maintenance of your house.

Just so long as I don't want much.
  • What could cause it please and how could we fix it?

Maybe just use the front door.

Sounds like it may not be secured properly so that the whole frame flexes when itis slammed, thus causing surrounding substrata to move. This can geremefied by increasing the number of frame fixings holding the frame into the wall.

If that doesn't work, then put a door loser on so that the doorman the slammed.

I too was thinking about geremefying my door frame but instead got a loser to slam the doorman.
    Forgotten but not gone.

Will we ever figure out the logic of Apple autocorrect....?

"This can be rectified by increasing the number of frame fixings holding the frame into the wall.

If that doesn't work, then put a door Closer on so that the door can't be slammed."

    Think geremified means rectified.
Door loser , door closer, one a them spring things that make door close slowly.
Doorman the slammed, door won't be slammed.
