Halogen oven tripping electrics

Hi

I woke up at about 4am on Christmas day. Turned a light on. Nothing. I noticed a tv was on standby. But our router ( downstairs was off). I identified that the halogen oven tripped the fuse box. The side with downstairs sockets and upstairs lights.

What could be causing the oven to trip?

Possibly fan assisted oven?

The no.1 cause of tripping lectrics is elements failing. Could be anything to be honest as it sounds as if the oven was not in use at the time. If it only trips when switched on to cook, then very probably one of the elements for sure.

A halogen oven is a large glass bowl with a lid that has a halogen light/heat bulb in it - used as an alternative to an ordinary oven. It will be plugged into an ordinary socket.

I find it strange that it is causing problems without it's fuse blowing - assume it is a 13 amp fuse?

Have you checked the oven in another socket/something else in the socket it is in?

If OP means that it is tripping the RCD (earth leakage trip), it is not the least strange that the fuse is not blowing. RCD's will trip on tiny currents as low as 30mA leaking to earth. A 13A fuse will not see this.
