Can you "un-screed" a screeded floor?
Morning folks :) Here's the situation. I recently had my laminate flooring relaid for a third time in a section of the ground floor because the concrete wasn't level. Before it was relaid the builders rescreeded the floor twice and added approx. half an inch to the height of the floor. Now the floor is higher than the rest…

After applying new plaster to everywhere we have had no further issues with damp until we got free cavity wall insulation along with everyone…

Cooker Problem - "out of warranty"
Hi, My mother in law bought a cooker from Curry's about two years ago. She seldom uses the grill (literally a couple of times since she bought it). Last week she tried to cook using it and found that it wouldn't turn on. At all. The knob's not working. Now, by my reckoning, a cooker should last more than two years, so I…

Bristol Council rejects new boiler application. Alternatives?
Bristol City Council have rejected my Listed Buildings Consent for an urgently needed new heating and hot water boiler, because the gas pipe from the meter in the basement is not big enough to run a new condenser boiler (and they will not permit a new pipe to be fitted, without having to fork out for an architect to draw…

New kitchen - extractor or recirculation fan?
Hi - I am getting a new kitchen installed in a couple of weeks time but I'm unsure what to do about the cooker hood fan. We have been advised to go for a recirculation fan but there is an option to go for the extractor fan option. The only problem is that there will be a fairly large amount of ducting required. To get to…
