Where can I get reasonably priced paint please?
I'm going for a pale lilac colour but can't get over the cost of paint in the big diy stores.
Thanks,
Laura

The best I have recently tried is b&q colours range covers well and this time I used cream over a light coffee colour with just one coat doing the trick. It is half the price of dulux.
I think they have changed who supplies them with this paint because in the past it was garbage and I never bought anything but dulux. Wisdom doesn't necessarily come with age.
Sometimes age just shows up all by itself

We've just used this as well and can't fault it0 -
if you're not in a rush I'd wait a bit. There's always offers on at homebase and b&q
either buy 1 get 1 free on crown or homebase own
the crown stuff goes on really well, it's lovely and thick and very good coverage (not the 10l tubs of white/magnolia though).0 -
As drummer says, B&Q and Homebase have frequent offers. Sign up to their email scheme and they'll let you know what's happening.
I recently got the paint for three rooms at a decent discount of 3 for 2 on dulux. And once you've got a tub of gloss it goes a long way ...0 -
I've recently bought Crown emulsion 2for1 at B&M

checking that it looks like the offer may have finishedLiverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

you can use an argos card in Homebase..did you know that? If you had a few diy bits to buy aswell as paint it could help you spread the cost..(dives for cover before the rotton veg starts being thrown in my direction)!!0

B&Q have regular offers buy one get one free etc and also sometimes 20% off if you have their club card which is free to get.
The best offers are buy one get one free so looking at around £18.99 for 2 Crown emulsions 2.5 litre.
That's if you can wait for the next offer to start.0 -
Cheap paint doesn't flow on the wall well and you just don't get the depth and clarity of colour. All too often, you remove the lid and find a lot of white you have to stir in.
British Standards paints as used by the trade, are made to an exact recipe, whoever they are manufactured by. They may be known by different names but the code will be the same eg BS 10 C 31. I buy mine from Brewers.0 -
Leyland/Johnstones from one of their trade centres. Not cheap, but you don't need to use much.0
