Gonna have a go at laying more insulation in the loft. Extra 200mm rolls but also considering those insulation boards that go on the roof where felt is. Anyone tried it or know if it is any good?
Thanks in advance

Why do you want to insulate the roof space?
Just lay more felt on top of what's already down.0 -

You risk causing a damp problem within the loft space if you block the air flow through that space. The roof boards are used for when you have what is known as a warm roof - i.e. no insulation on the floor of the loft possibly because you use the space as a living area. If you are blocking most of the heat via roll insulation and allowing some air flow through the loft space the roof boards will do very little.Adventure before Dementia!0

We got extra loft insulation installed this afternoon, paid for thru government/energy company grant - it was completely free of charge. See following web site to see if it might apply:

Scheme is running out on December 3rd so it is necessary to act quickly. Basically any homeowner can get free cavity wall or loft insulation, with no hidden gotcha's.
Our house was built in the mid-90's when loft insulation requirements are a lot less than they are today (we already had cavity wall insulation), so we met the requirements and the job was completed, just 24 hours after the first knock on the door advising that our local authority were handing out free money.
It seemed too good to be true, but having called the local council to confirm it actually is a freebie with no strings attached (other than it will reduce our heating bill during the winter months).0
