Recommend 50cm wide electrical cooker - bargain in sales?
I am looking for a 50cm wide electrical free standing cooker - can anyone recommend a good cooker & a good deal? UPDATED (2) What's going on with my drains?
Been in this place for 6 months. Bath was always slow draining from day one, pulled loads of yucky hair out of plughole and it seemed a bit better but still not great. No problems with toilets although I occasionally thought I got a bit of a smell from the downstairs loo. No-one else seemed to smell it. Last few weeks have…

Radiator panels
I am considering fitting reflective radiator panels behind my radiators and was wondering if anyone has had any experience of their effectiveness. There appears to be floppy ones such as Radflex that are easy to fit but just look like silver foil to me. The other option is more sturdy and shaped but slightly trickier and…

Which drill to buy?
SDS Hammer Drill? Have moved into a 1930's built bungalow and can't drill anything deeper than 1.5cm max into crumbling plaster before hitting what feels like steel esp on the chimney breast. I have tried a hammer drill today (Bosch PSB 750RCE) but it was no better than my 20yr old black & decker. I wondered about hiring…

Does anyone clean their own windows (without ladders) tips please . .
Hi, we are thinking about ditching our window cleaner as he is unreliable, damages the windows with his telescopic window cleaning pole brush thing and has tried to charge us for months we have paid already. We have no room for ladders so we would need to use a similar method as he does though more carefully. Does anyone…

Wickes + Sheridans + Bathroom City
Hi, I have just completed a total refurbishment of my flat. My contractor, Joe Hayes was incredible and the only light in a messy, dark tunnel. I chose to get a Wickes made to order kitchen. Wickes work with Sheridans. My advice: DONT WORK WITH EITHER!! Wickes West Hampstead are no help. Wrong cupboards delivered. But then…

British Gas Home Care - comedy of errors, but nobody's laughing
Hi all Hope this is in the right part of the forum. I have had BG HomeCare 400, with Plumbing and Drains Care and Electrical since 2004. I have called on the plumbing and drains cover only once - when they attended and (satisfactorily) fixed a drain blockage some time in 2007/08. My house is a 1900-built terraced one with…

fit kitchen first or sort out door
Hi, we are due to get a kitchen fitted, but have a problem with the kitchen door. Builder hasn't fit it properly and it needs plastering around it/architrave and painting. Plus we may change the door at some point - its a fire door so if we change to a normal door we may need to change the casing. If we paint/fit the rest…

Problems in bedrooms with mould and condensation?
Just wondered if someone could make some suggestions as I am almost having a breakdown over this! Last year we had horrible black mould growing on our bedroom ceiling.
