Wickes internal doors

We have replaced the upstairs doors using Howdens doors. http://www.howdens.com/product-range/doors-joinery-collection/internal-doors/stile-rail-doors/primed-2-panel-shaker/

We're now going to replace the downstairs & Wickes have a similar door but at a cheaper price

Does anyone have any experience of Wickes internal doors? IS the quality ok?

I replaced all my internal doors downstairs with Wickes ones a few years ago. The quality was Ok but not startling.

I fit one from wickes (ordered via Toolstation as far cheaper) and the door was ok, but a bit rough - and slightly warped too. But it was cheap.

I hung 8 of these, which look to be a similar construction:

    http://www.wickes.co.uk/woburn-smooth-moulded-door-1981x762mm/invt/190911/

The door is made from an outer Pine slat frame, with moulded hardboard faces, and I assume internal cardboard supports. The slats are about 25mm wide, but in one case it was only 15mm. Quality seems fine, as good as any moulded door I would have thought. One had some scuffs on one side, but very minor. Obviously not as tough as soild wood doors, but easier to hang (lighter), and attractive.

my mums house has wickes doors and there !!!!
  • Even some of the reviews of wickes internal doors on their site are not exactly complimentary. I would suggest that you go and take a look at them before purchasing. Some are downright terrible IMO, especially those textured ones.

Inspect everything if you have them delivered because Wickes are not too fussy about handling.

Fitted quite a lot of these . Not much scope for planing if your door frame requires taking some material off the door. Otherwise they are ok for the price.
    Forgotten but not gone.
