Hi, we are thinking about ditching our window cleaner as he is unreliable, damages the windows with his telescopic window cleaning pole brush thing and has tried to charge us for months we have paid already.
We have no room for ladders so we would need to use a similar method as he does though more carefully. Does anyone have any tips on what to use and where to buy it from?
Thanks.

Depending on the type of windows you have, you may be able to do the task from inside the house. My windows open on a sort of sliding hinge so that when fully open there's a gap above which I can reach a long handled squeegy out of to clean them.
The squeegy we have is one of the car ones with a pole stuck into the handle - sponge on one side and rubber bit on the other. Works well.0 -
I clean my own windows using a telescopic squeege and a hose pipe with a gun to get the water up to the windows. I expect doing it all day long the window cleaner has just become careless - they do work if you're careful with them and don't just throw it around. I've never heard of a window cleaner that doesn't have a ladder - he sounds lazy!0

I get my top windows cleaned by window cleaner using a pole he doesn't dry them but the water is filtered so it doenst leave any streaks. I tried poles myself it snapped first time I used it from Argos. I clean my own downstairs windows/door though with bucket of water, small amount of detergent and something to take water off and micro fibre cloths
Your wc must be careless as he shouldn't damage windows0 -
Ha ha . . . I've just found out the windows open inwards . . . we always thought they just opened up and down. Only been in the house 4 years . . . ha ha. Clever windows and bye bye window cleaner. Love it!! Thanks for the contributions.0

in my last house I had tilt and turn windows so they were easy to clean. I also do the frames and seals ever now and then
If you get any marks on upvc barkeepers friend its good you only need a little to remove black marks and it doesn't scratch0 -
Many wc have stopped using ladders as the insurance costs have increased.....Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0

I use an aluminium multi section pole which I got from Betterware which has a brush and squeegy on it. With a little care it can do a fair job, however might need a rag wrapped around the brush at times. I also use it to clean the frames and sill because they pick up so much muck.
Three out of Four of my upstairs windows are hinged from the top which makes cleaning from inside a no go. Cleaning the window sills is easier but still messier than doing it from outside.0 -
I clean all the windows myself in our house, Theyre all tilt and turn and the bigger windows have the tilt and turn in the middle so I can open it up all the way and clean the fixed panels either side with window cleaner so its streak free in and out. No need for a window cleaner!0

I'm cleaning my windows myself with a bucket, a drop of Fairy, sponge and long handled squeegy, first clean the windows with the soap water and after that use the long handled squeegy, use a clean dry cloth to take the water of the squeegy and at the window edges use a clean dry cloth and that is it you've done it.0

Cleaning windows with detergent is hard work, ammonia and newspaper seems to be quicker and doesn't leave streaks.0
