Speaker brackets

Is this a fair price?
Hi Just hoped someone could give me an idea whether this bill I've received from my alarm company is way too high or not. We use this company for our annual maintenance contract on our house alarm. In the past we have used them for the odd call out and their call out fee has varied from £69 and £59.50 (for first half hour…

Another "How Much" question
I'm waiting for a quote re some electrical work at home, and would like a rough idea beforehand. (The electrician is reliable and recommended so no fears there). Would be grateful for your views on what I'm having done: - replace 3 x 4 foot strip lights (all using the same holes in the ceiling IYKWIM) -replace a bathroom…

Ironing Board for tall people
I am trying to find an ironing board that does not give me a sore back. There is a Brabantia one in Homebase for £94.00 which, although provides a wide surface area, the height only goes up to 102cm. This is higher than the normal 90cm but not by much! Does anyone know where I can find a good ironing board that goes…

Changing Light Switches-Help!
Hello everyone, I would like to change 10 light switches around the house from the old block plastic type to the slim chrome type. There is one place where there are two switches next to each other and I would like to change this to a single "twin" switch (I hope this is making sense!). I have had a look at various guides…

Had offer accepted (yay!) and so am trying to get organised, although I am still aware that many many things could go wrong yet (eek!) particularly as vendors want to complete ASAP, so am looking for as much advice as I can get re: setting up a home. I'm living with my…

Awning for bungalow
Can anyone recommend a company that fit awnings. My mum has moved into a bungalow and the sun streams into her living room making it hard to see the TV in the day. She would like an awning but has no room above her patio doors before the guttering/roof starts so we can't just buy one off the shelf and fit it ourselves. If…

Advice on new front door
I'm organising house clearance and clean-up of a property belonging to a deceased relative. The property is in a really bad way and will probably end up being sold on auction for not much as noone has the time/energy to do it up to a better standard. At the moment we only have a key for a side door and the house clearance…

Overhead cables
We’re doing a self build and one of our neighbours has complaining that a delivery truck has ripped out an overhead power cable that ran between their house over the road to a shed they own on the other side of the road. It’s not a problem us fixing it if in fact it’s been damaged by something we’ve done I’m just wondering…

Low Noise Bathroom Extractor Fan
Can anyone advise please? I need to purchase tomorrow a low level bathroom extractor fan, which hopefully will be economical to run also. Also, is it best to have it operated on a pull cord, or wired in to the light? I'm a bit worried about having it wired into the light & then having no control over when it goes off. If…

Boundary fence and land registry title plan
I'm feeling confused and internet research hasn't really helped - so I'm hoping that a knowledgeable person on the MSE forum can help! We have new neighbours who have moved in next door.
