Cavity wall insulation in a first floor maisonette
I'm an owner occupier, it's purpose built in a block of four, (constructed in 1959)two up two down. You see them all over the place, I'm on the first floor. The only maisonette that has it is my neighbours below. He had it done many moons ago, I think it was blown fibre or beads. The occupier on the ground floor adjacent…

Can I paint external door handles - UPVC door
Hi, I was hoping for a bit of advice as to whether it's possible to repaint an external door handle - the type that comes with UPVC doors. The paint has flaked off the handle so in some places its down to the metal and looks awfully scruffy. I'd have to try and sand off the remaining paint first, but once I've done that,…

"With underfloor heating, you won't need radiators in new conservatory" Is this true?

Joiner or Builder ? Replace old front door - Now inner door
In short, Our house has a front porch, this use to be an old outhouse with a cupboard at a guess, then a door to get into the house. Sometime ago the council put a door on the porch thing, and removed the wall. So now we have a PVC front door, then you enter the porch (2m x 2m), then turn right into the house. Here remains…

leaky trap
Hi all, Our shower trap, which is below the floorboards upstairs, is leaking at the point indicated by the arrow in this pic: I can only get one arm under the floor as there are joists in the way, and I can't budge the plastic bit at the bottom (to remove and replace/reseal/retighten). I'm concerned if I twist too hard,…
