leaky trap

Options
Hi all,

Our shower trap, which is below the floorboards upstairs, is leaking at the point indicated by the arrow in this pic:

I can only get one arm under the floor as there are joists in the way, and I can't budge the plastic bit at the bottom (to remove and replace/reseal/retighten). I'm concerned if I twist too hard, I'm going to loosen something else, as I can't support the body of it with my other hand.

Question: this might sound like a crazy idea, but can I just smother the whole gap with a mass of sealant? Will the water still find a way out?

It's a McAlpine shower trap, if anyone knows about these specifically. I didn't think they leaked out of the box!

Any suggestions gratefully received...

Unscrew the center crome waste, and diconect the waste nut.You will then be able to pull out the whole trap. There will be a O ring at the bottom, it could be split. But a new Maccy trap and make sure it is hand tight before refitting.
Or you can bogge it up and get yourself on telly:rotfl: , and blame it on a plumber, everyone else does:rotfl:
