Advice on a new kitchen - design, layout and installation
We are currently applying for planning permission to extend our existing kitchen. It has taken us ten years to get to this stage and I want to ensure we make all the right choices as we won't be in a position to afford this again. We have never had a new kitchen before so I would be very grateful for any advice you could…

Any plasterers around?
I had my ceiling skimmed last week (over artex), and there's now a crack that runs from one wall to the other. It's not huge, but probably a bit bigger than hairline, which I know can be common in new plaster. I'm going to leave it for a month to fully dry out, and then pollyfill if it hasn't worsened. Are there any…

Wickes PVCu Door Replacement
If we install a new side door ourselves, can anyone tell me whether it will need to be signed off to comply with building/glazing regulations. I'm just a bit confused as to whether this is necessary. This is the door http://www.wickes.co.uk/Exterior-PVCu-Doors/2XG-Pre-hung-Back-Door-LHH-Part-M/invt/180085 Thanks.

Wanted suggestions for NONE iron bedding
Over the years we used to buy Dorma or M&S bedding and never gave it a second thought. Bought it, washed it & put it on the bed & it always looked good. Bought the poly/cotton mixes which were supposed to be NONE iron and they were NONE iron. A couple of year back we thought we would renew all the bedding in the house…

Cheapest portable heating
Our central heating pump has gone and it will cost 3 grand for a new system (which we need). We haven't the money and need some kind of electric backup heaters that are the cheapest to run. I hear those oil ones are quite good as well as halogen. Can anyone recommend anything ?

Oscillating halogen heater.
I've just had an astronomical:eek: gas bill, £249 for the quarter compared to £161 for the same period last year. A neighbour recommended buying one of those oscillating halogen heaters that cost about £12. She reckons they are very effective and heat rooms really well. Also it seems they are very economical to run, much…
