Wickes PVCu Door Replacement

If we install a new side door ourselves, can anyone tell me whether it will need to be signed off to comply with building/glazing regulations.
I'm just a bit confused as to whether this is necessary.
This is the door http://www.wickes.co.uk/Exterior-PVCu-Doors/2XG-Pre-hung-Back-Door-LHH-Part-M/invt/180085
Thanks.

Is it a like for like replacment? If so I would not bother unless you are planning on selling soon.
If it is a new hole in a wall yes talk to BCO will make sure that the job is correct.0 -
I asked a similar question here
It's only if there's greater than 50% of glazing that it's an issue and then you'd have to notify building control - or use an installer who can self-certify via FENSA (there is another similar self-certification organisation i believe but the name escapes me).
I've actually just been phoning around to get some quotes in for a new front door - prices for a uPVC front door including fitting (obviously more hardware on a front door with letterboxes etc) are coming back at around £545 upwards. So it might be worth you getting a few quotes - especially if it's going to involve building reg notification.

we would supply and fit a door like that for £485 it is the cheapest style we do but then unlike a wickes door it would be made to measure with 3 flag hinges instead of 2 and yale 6 point locking mechanism the specification of our door and that of many double glazing companies is far better than that.you pays your money you takes your chanceif you think peoples advice is helpfull please take the time to clicking the thank you button it gives great satisfaction0

Yes it is a like for like door.
You have all been very helpful - Thanks!!0 -
Do shop around and get a few quotes if you get someone in..just had one salesman who came round to quote me £734 for a uPVC front door (steel reinforced panel, 6-point hook locking with chubb lock). I suspect that will be my highest quote - and expected it to be too. The salesman was friendly arrived 15mins early and i liked pretty much everything - except the price. Perhaps it was a reasonable price for the service offered i'm not sure but i'll soon find out when other firm quotes come in! Once i've got other firm like-for-like quotes i may go back to see if he'll barter - depends on the service offered by others though. Whilst he was here I asked him to give me a rough price on a backdoor similar to the sort your after (doesn't actually need replacing yet but thought it might be useful for comparison and for future reference when it does need replacing!) and he said it would be around £650 but about £100 less if i got it at the same time as the front door.

We have decided to get some quotes for all our double glazing and doors so will update with any figures in the hope of getting some more sound advice :-)
Any recommendations for fitters near Bognor Regis? We don't want to use any of the national companies.0
