If you suggested doing it in the Spring, I would say, get on with it.
But not just at the moment!!
I painted the front of the house . few years back, easy.I already owned a scaffold tower. Would not do it off a ladder.0 -
I would hold off as well, cause if the frost gets to your paintwork your stuffed, and specially if you have wooden windows, you wont be able to paint them.
You havent long to wait till the spring, so you can arrange to get your colour, (but keep that inside, dont have it in your garage or shed, frost will get to it), organise your dust sheets, buy a roll of polythene to cover your windows from paint splashes.
Make sure you have your tray, brushes etc.
Then when the frost is over, you can get painting.
What is the texture on your house, if its a small pebbledash, or even just rendered, you can use a long haired roller (for exterior work), thats what I use when I painted mine.
It only took me 2 days, but I had no windows, but still had the down pipes, soffit and guttering, I did 2 coats.
If you do decide to do it yourself, I can give you some tips .:D0 -
We need to get it painted asap, as we are putting it on the market in 2 weeks time, and although we have done the inside we have been told painting the outside could put up to £5000 on the price, plus its giving it the kerb appeal. Its tyrolene on the walls and has been on for about 30 years but never been painted, where it was loose weve knocked it off and are going to redo it. Misgrace any tips would be helpful. Thanx in advance0

I painted this only using a ladder, if I had had a scaf tower I would have just put it up for the apex. Not moved it about, as always the painting of the white walls was the east bit. It's all i the prep. Wire brush all over to remove flaking paint. Pointing up righthand side where missing gutter had washed pointing away.
I had all the guttering off so it could be painted as it was all fadied gray, with some new gray, and it meant that painting the fasias was eaisier and mum was able to paint them in the warmth of the dinning room! Needed 2 coats of dulux weathersheild on the white to cover the vomit yellow that was before. Plus 3 more coats where the brickwork on the right and the arch had been picked out in black!
The most time consuming bit was the woodwork, sand, 2 undecoats, 1 topcoat all at the top of the ladder cutting in all the time on the apex.
Then when finished I had to clean off all the vomit yellow that had previously been splashed on the widow frames which looked terrible.0 -

Hi there, I just hope the weather improves a bit for you lol
What I would do and what I did, bearing in mind I painted mine in the better weather, whilst you have the tower up say for example in the front, undercoat your guttering and downpipes, and any windows.
Then whilst that is going off, you could be coating the front, usually in the better weather, by the time you have painted the first coat of colour all the way down, the top part of the colour should be dry, then you can start on the 2nd coat.
By then the UC is dry, then you can gloss the soffit/guttering etc, then when your finished, you can move the tower round to the side or back and start again.
It saves you keep moving the tower back and forth.
I know time is tight for you, but on bare cement etc, you should really apply a coat of stabiliser.
But as your selling in a couple of weeks, and you cant do the stabiliser, then water down your first coat of weathershield, as it will soak into the cement.
Just make sure everything iscovered up, even your path, if there is any cars in your drive, then cover them with a dust sheet.
Try and polythene your windows, (if your not painting them), if you have no polythene, then cover them with newspaper held on with masking tape.
You will be suprised the amount of splashes you get on your glass if you dont.
Hope this helps, and good luck.:D0 -
dulux do an all seasons masonry paint that you could put on your walls , it dries in low temperatures - not sure if you can use it in freezing temps tho - i wouldn't use water based masonry paints whilst freezing esp on tyrolene as it will just freeze and look minging , you may be better just giving it a blast with a power washer0
