Cheapest portable heating

Our central heating pump has gone and it will cost 3 grand for a new system (which we need). We haven't the money and need some kind of electric backup heaters that are the cheapest to run.
I hear those oil ones are quite good as well as halogen. Can anyone recommend anything ?

Electricity is expensive to run, are you sure that you need a new system? Get a second opinion, a new pump will only cost about £30 and shouldn't take more than 20 mins to fit.0

If all that's wrong with your current system is a duff pump, why do you think you need a new system? As mentioned above, a new pump doesn't cost the earth.0

Are you eligible for the warm front grant????? Check the web site.
I am an oil filled radiator girl myself.....at least one that is 1.5KjToday, my BEST is good enough.0 -
you would be better off getting a new pump installed, a friends just paid a heating engineer £130, thats £70 for the pump and £60 labour. if that gives you a rough idea of cost?0

I have bought a pump for £32 which is ideal. I will now try and fit it.:rotfl:0

If you get stuck/aren't sure, post back. There are plenty of people round here who have fitted these and can help. Make a note of how it is fitted now to get the new one in the right way - there is an arrow to indicate water flow.0

Just seen your post hope you get it done ok, its only water and a couple of nuts to loosen and a cable to fit, turn off the power also, good luck.
