Hi
Does anyone know of a quiet electric inset fire at all?
I have brought a couple, but when I got them home the fan was so noisey I took it back!
Do quiet ones exist at all??

What make of fire do you have tightrs? Is it noisy on flame effect only?
The one I have is the Dimplex Wynford and I got a replacement which is just as noisy.
I contacted Dimplex who said there should only be a 'low hum' whatever that means?!
They said I could arrange for a service engineer to call but if no fault is found then I will be charged.
So I may end up paying this and have to buy another fire so don't know what to do?!
Surely with all the advancement in technology then manufacturers could make quiet electric fires?0 -
hi Reisser
i bought this fire http://www.diy.com/diy/jsp/bq/nav.jsp?action=detail&fh_secondid=9272235&fh_view_size=10&fh_location=%2f%2fcatal!!!1%2fen_GB&fh_search=electric+fire&fh_eds=%c3%9f&fh_refview=search&ts=1257790088947&isSearch=true
the first 2 i bought were very noisy but the third is fine , a faint hum is how i would describe it as the fan blows the material to create the flame effect,
the first 2 you could hear over the tv .0
