Is this usual??
Is it normal in the fittings and contents form to not include things like fitted oven/hob & gas fires? I'm legitimately wondering. I mean if the oven/hob were free standing, I don't think I'd be as shocked.

New Build: Developer won't exchange
We paid a reservation fee for a new build from a local developer in March. He initially refused to exchange until the house has been signed off NHBC. That eventually came through in late August, after two failed air tests. We signed exchange papers at that time. The following week he claimed there was an issue with the…

New house, rewire, heating and asbestos found all within months
Hi there, This is my first time posting but I need somewhere to get this all out my system and ask if anyone has any advice! We bought and moved into our dream house a few months ago thinking all we had to do was move in and decorate as there were no major red flags in the home report (we're in Scotland). Since moving in…

Help to buy equity loan: Type of new build
Hi, My husband and I are looking at buying our first home. It's a new build priced at 310k. It has been built and sold on a plot of land by a private seller, rather than the typical new build development sites these sort of loans were targeted at. My question is, does this matter and will it affect us being eligible for…

Buying 'granny flat' with mum's savings
Hi My mum is near 90, and her health is deteriorating. We don't want her to go in a home. And neither does she. We're looking to move house anyway, but now we're considering whether mum should move in with us. She currently lives in council property, but has savings - her will has percentages of her savings to be given to…

Extending lease
Hi Many thanks to MSE for the great guide on extending leases. I'm in a block of 4 flats with the freehold held by a management company whose shares are owned by each of the flat owners. All 4 flat owners are in agreement to extend the leases on our properties - all currently at 83 years remaining. I'm getting conflicting…

Should we have been given building certificate on exchange?
We recently bought a house that had an extension. Our inventory (r whatever the it is called) that the vendor has completed and has been signed off by the solicitor states that the building certificate and the electricity certificate are 'enclosed.' I'm assuming enclosed means that the vendor has provided these to his…
