Hi all, Wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation or can offer any advice. Booked flights through Carlton Leisure for a family holiday to Orlando and New York in November. All flights were booked through BA and operate on codeshares. Flights on the outward journey (25th November) were: - BA4501 06:40 Inverness -…

EasyJet In cabin bag size question
Flying Easy Jet for the first time and noted that the in cabin bag I have used with BA AA etc without problems for many trips has a top handle that protrudes 1cm (10mm) over the 56cm length allowed by easyjet. (ie a piece of plastic 1cm x 16cm would be outside the limit) The volume of the bag is actually less than the…

Getting cash in Italy
Hi all Just a quick question: we're off to Italy next week, we've bought euros on line and we'll be carrying Saga Platinum and Santander credit cards. My question is, if we find ourselves running low on cash, what's the best (ie cheapest) way of getting more euros? Can we just bring our Santander debit cards and use an…

Canada currency question
Heading to Sun Peaks for Xmas, which is a Canadian ski resort. I’ve read and heard Mr Lewis talk about the travel credit cards and I’m wondering if this the best/safest option. Are these cards pre-pay? Will all retailers accept them? Are they suitable for Canada or are we better off getting cash currency? I’m just thinking…

BA Flights Long Haul - Increased
In Sept , I looked at BA Flights to Vancouver and return from Calgary in May 2018 to get an idea of costs. Looked again today at the same flights and it appears they increased by approx 30%.::( Is it likely they will stay at that or increase further. As I will not be in a position to book them until end of November.

Seat upgrade auctions
So we bid for a seat upgrade but were not successful. The upgraded fare was £400 each (2 of us) and we bid £150 each. However when we checked in we enquired about availability to be told there were 2 seats available on Premium, although not together. This was with Norwegian. I'm just trying to understand why they didn't…

tax refund for flight not flown
hi all, i was wondering if anyone had any insight on the following issue. I booked a non refundable BA flight via Opodo (yes I know, I learnt my lesson, I will definitely avoid them in future...) which I eventually did not fly. I know it's normally possible to get a refund for the airport taxes etc even for non refundable…

Travel FX - Cancellation 'Charges'
Hi All, just a note of caution re Travel FX, as many will already know, it's payment by BACS (not card) only and if things go wrong... they not only charge 25 pounds cancellation fee, but set their own 'buy-sell' rates... we purchased over 700 pounds of currency, cancelled and received less than 600 pounds back! We tried…

Afriqiyah flight refund from many moons ago
Hi all. First time posting - hope I'm in the right place. I bought flights from Afriqiyah Airlines in 2011 (Libya's state-owned airline). Before the flight was due, the Arab Spring hit and Libya went into meltdown. My mum made a few calls from the UK and was told that Afriqiyah could not honour the booking and to make a…

Beware pushy Car Hire firms
I am recently returned from Spain. Prior to travelling I had arranged car hire through a broker with Solmar. Following advice we read on this site we bought an excess insurance waiver policy prior to travel as we have been stung for hidden charges in the past. We flew into Girona airport around midnight on Sunday 6th…

Lastminute.com only offering refund
We have booked flights through Lastminute.com, 2 stops, with 2 different airlines. The last 2 flights are with the same carrier, the last flight the airline cancelled and rescheduled to 10 mins earlier, however this has meant that the connection time is now below the recommended time. So this has been ongoing for a nearly…

Currency: unstable Spain, unstable Euro?
With a flair for geopolitics not seen since Custer decided to visit Little Bighorn, Mrs C and I have booked and paid for a luvvly long weekend city break in January. In Barcelona. That aside (though 'that' being not inconsiderable) should we be looking to buy Euros over the next few days? We're Revolut users. Crystal ball…

Car Hire, Naples Italy
I want to hire a car at Naples Airport for a week's holiday next April and I am horrified by the numerous posts on a variety of internet websites by punters who have been the victims of 'sharp practice' by the hire companies who operate there. It appears to be a scamming hotspot. Does anyone have any advice or stories to…

Using Currency Cards
Hi there I am going to Hong Kong and then the US next year and am looking for a currency card to use rather than taking cash. I have had emails from CAXTON and Sainsburys but cant really get a clear answer and grasp on the services they offer - a straight answer from either appears to be impossible. I am looking for a card…
