Faulty Gas Meter?
I've been wondering if my gas meter has been faulty for a couple years now. My partner are extremely frugal when it comes to heating, preferring a house coat or blanket over cranking the thermostat if possible. The flat has 2 bedrooms, an office, and we only use 4 radiators in the house. Kitchen, spare bedroom, and main…

EON Next Debt Recovery Threat. Is this normal behaviour?
I was transferred on the EON-Next tariff like many others. I have been paying my direct debit as specified by them and providing accurate meter readings. Today I received an email from them saying I had to pay the outstanding debit or they may take debt recovery action. Is this their normal customer approach? They set the…

Save electricity and money by using gas heated hot water
Typically,
the capped cost of 1kWh of electrical energy is £0.27 and set to rise further. Similarly,
the cost of 1kWh of gas energy is £0.08 and also set to rise. Gas combi boilers
heat hot water at about 84% efficiency whereas more up market boilers with an
in-flue heat recovery system produce hot water at about 94%…

Utility Point: Late final bill (5 months later)
Just to briefly ask that if the final bill comes in from our bankrupted former supplier (Utility Point) some 5 months later after we were swapped to EDF ( we got it last week), is that legal/conformant to OFGEM rules? Martin has supplied advice ( I cannot post link here just yet, it is on this site) and that seems clear,…

Energy Prices
I recently had an email from Switchroo stating that Northumbria Energy had a 12 month fixed deal cheaper than the current price cap. I had a look at the rates and this seemed to be the case however the reviews were very poor on customer service issues. I wondered if anyone else had come across this company?

Switching Electricity Supplier with a Smart Meter (SMETS2)
I was with British Gas, had
been with them since last year when got moved to them via the SOLR

British Gas - I can't seem to track down SVR being offered to the published rates on the website?
Hi all, My father is currently with BG, and his current fixed price plan comes to an end on 30th June. I've been advising him that any fix price will be higher than the SVR, so he shouldn't rush into anything, but the 1 year fixed price he's been offered is cheaper than the "variable price plan" he's also been quoted. To…

Shell Energy Using Different Meter Reading Method?
We were moved over to Shell Energy after Green went bust and like most people we are having problems. The main one seems to be the accepted way of reading our meter. Increases in Standing charge
This may have been answered but I haven't found it. I understand why they are increasing the actual cost of the fuel but why does the standing charge have to also increase? Their method of delivery, ordering, etc. isn't changing, just the actual cost of the fuel.
