In Early March I decided to fix my energy....here is the product I was offered.  There is no penalty if I decide to switch.  My monthly direct is £202.81.....however I have been very careful for the month of April and only used £102, so I plan to build up a 'pot' so that next winter I won't be afraid to put the heating on/up .......

Looking at those rates you would have been better off on the standard variable tariff even if there is a 30% increase in energy costs on October 1st.

It's all about price per kWh so even though you are reducing your use it would be even cheaper still monthly on the standard variable rate.

I was looking at this tarriff at some point too and calculated that the prices need to rise another 85% in October for it to be worth it to switch to this Octopus Loyal fixed rate. Prices are now predicted to rise around 27-32%, so it's cheaper to stay on variable rate.
