Electricity Contract

Gas Contract

I pay by Whole month DD and entered my readings as usual on 30 April. However these were ignored and the default amounts were taken from my DD today.

The DD is usually taken around the 17-20 of month so why has this month’s been taken 2 weeks early and the wrong amounts?

So that’s 2 DD in 2 week and I’m not happy.

It shows now as a credit on my accounts which is no good to me.Chat were no help as they cudnt grasp the facts :-)

Sent complaint email so will see what happens. The money is not the main issue but time between last months and this months DD.

I am supposedly on quarterly variable DD. Yesterday, I submitted a meter reading purely for, as I thought, information. However, EDF have taken that as a signal to raise an immediate bill, only 3 weeks after the last one, and tell me they will be claiming payment by DD on the 19th May!

The lesson here would appear to be not to submit interim readings. Naively, I thought that for the benefit of both sides, the more readings the better, so that the billing algorithm would be more accurate in the event of an estimate. There's never a dull, or forecastable, moment with EDF.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way. If you submit a reading more than 28 days after the last one a bill is automatically produced, so you’re correct, don’t give extra reads. This is why they bill 6 monthly on fixed dd as give a read every month it will trigger a review each time

Not found any logic with EDF.   For some reason they chose not to take a DD this week but next week instead. Chat produced an old letter giving details but that never got onto My Account
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Received response and the info about readings on last day of month are wrong.

"your reading window is 04th to 27th of each month"

And they ignored my readings this time because of Bank Holiday apparently.

Anyway it seems that my meter day will always be on the 27 may and the DD will be taken about 10 days later.

Not even their grammar makes any sense.

I switched on 22nd of April to exact direct debit as was asked to submit my reading on that day and than that I had to give it on 28th April again to get an invoice by 3rd of May, guess what, I never got an invoice :)
