True LED savings
If someone would like to check my mathematics it would seem that substituting a 17 w LED bulb in place of a 23 w low energy bulb would give approximately the same output BUT give a saving of less than a quarter of a penny per hour. Granted that the price of LED bulbs has dropped there is still a significant price…

Final EDF bill is high
I've changed from EDF to British Gas and EDF have sent me a final bill of £238.10 when the actual energy used bill is £33.12 why am I having to pay an extra £204.98. I always pay by direct debit but this bill amount is ridiculous and I've got until the 15 June to pay it, I don't have that much in my account

Final Bill from EDF is incredibly high?
I'm trying to get my head around why my final bill is so high. Due to an issue with an ex partners name still being on the account, I closed my existing account with EDF, and settled the final payment of £155 on the 1st April, paying for the dates of Oct 2019 to 8th March 2020. I then opened a new account, and had my first…

Octopus energy tracker tariff billing issue
I swapped to the tracker tariff a few weeks ago and I have had a bill which I consider higher than normal. I was previously on Go tariff but the new electric car was delayed so swapped to this tariff as it is cheaper, especially as the rates have been lower over the pandemic. I have attached some screenshots as I am…

I started a switch 3 weeks ago to British gas via MSE and after hearing nothing I now have a text with a !!!!!! telling me I still have time to provide an opening meter reading (this is the first communication I have had) and when I click on the link it takes me to www.britishgasx.co.uk. When I clicked on Chat apparently…

Switching is how easy????
Switched (or asked to be) to Together Energy at the end of April. They took money on the 3rd May and have not switched me. I'm paying twice. They said today they had switched electricity but not gas (I asked for dual fuel). Now I cannot cancel and I'm stuck with these idiots and out of pocket. Great advice. Have to go…

Meter ID mix-up causes big issues
I did a switch back in October 2019 from Ovo Energy to Orbit Energy. At first all was well until the first estimated bill arrive from £3900, made up mainly from gas charges. I do won a conventional 3 bed semi, rather than an aircraft hanger. The first issue was lack of engagement, then no way to raise the issue to Ofgem…

VAT on Utility Penalty Payment
I have jumped too early from one utility company to another and have incurred a penalty payment for leaving early. I accept that. However can they then charge VAT on that payment? £60 is now £72! Is this a common practice? The company is Utility Point and I jumped because they had bad reviews for not paying out at end of…

Can smart meters be used on economy 7 tariffs?
I have a new house and trying to switch providers. I want to switch to economy 7 but the questionnaire just asks you whether you have an economy seven meter and assumes you want to keep the same status. I'm pretty sure we have smart meters but we have no higher that tells you what's going on. Will we have smart meters in a…

Hi. Just a quick question. I found British Gas tariff on Uswitch but it’s for homeowners only. I rent my flat so if I still switch to that tariff would they ask me to provide a proof of the property ownership? I’ve never seen such tariffs and almost switched but last moment saw that it’s for homeowners only. Any advice Is…

Monthly Direct Debit much higher than 'estimated monthly amount'
Any advice on this? It's not helped by companies being resistant to changing the Direct Debit figure they pluck out of the air. Even if it starts this time of year with the lower energy use first. Is there a list of good companies that don't put a premium on your Direct Debit to begin with and are prepared to change…
