Tariff for homeowners
Hi.
Just a quick question. I found British Gas tariff on Uswitch but it’s for homeowners only. I rent my flat so if I still switch to that tariff would they ask me to provide a proof of the property ownership? I’ve never seen such tariffs and almost switched but last moment saw that it’s for homeowners only.
Any advice Is vastly appreciated
Thank you

What advice do you need? - If it's a condition of the tariff to be a homeowner then it's easy, if you aren't a homeowner or can't prove that you are one then you can't have the tariff. Whats is the problem with that.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0

If you want to move to it and take the risk and hope you don't get caught, that's up to you. But don't be surprised if they check and (if they supply you) later kick you off it, applying exit fees in the process and dumping you back on the standard tariff.

British Gas do not charge exit fees when someone switches to another B.G tariff from Energy and Home Services Jun 2021v2 and possibly from other fixed term B.G tariffs

This tariff comes with lots of extras which would be useful for homeowners only (Includes British Gas Boiler and Controls Breakdown Cover (£99 excess), Plumbing, Drains and Home Electrical Cover (£60 excess) valued at £108 per year.)
Having read everything it looks like the fact that I don’t own the property I live in can only come up if I try to claim one fo those covers which I wouldn’t need to as I don’t own the flat.
Most of the time terms and conditions really lack details and sound very vague, I was wondering if anyone had an experience switching to such tariffs (either by mistake or intentionally to take advantage of the low rates) whilst not being an owner.0 -
MSE version 2 does not state "Homeowners only" on face of it a non homeowner would be no different to a homeowner who does not fall into this category "if they don't have it already."
