Confused about new electric boiler!
I have just moved into a new 2 bedroom flat. Unfortuantly we don't have gas heating, its an electric boiler (GAH Electrastream boiler - 9Kwh). We're struggling to get our flat warm, and not sure if we're operating the boiler correctly, its different to my previous one. We're on E7 Tariff, so I have set it to heat the water…

Cold house - heating on all day?
I have an end terraced 2 bedroom house which has poor insulation and is therefore very cold in Winter! My thermastat in the kitchen this morning was 10.5 without the heating on. I have it programmed to come on for 2 hours in a morning and 5 hours in an evening (weekdays) and this weather it reaches 15 in an evening. I have…

Scottish Power Warrant of entry
Hi Folks, I need advice, am located in Scotland. I have never been a Scottish Power customer but they appear to have got my flat mixed up with another. I have had repeated demands for payment of bills that are not mine. I've phoned them about this several times and it just keeps getting worse. They've now passed on this…

Gas bill received nearly a year after leaving property for Gas used almost 3 years ago
I lived in a property for almost 3 years, we moved in November 2015, moved out September 2018. During the time we lived there we had our gas supplied by EoN, we opted for quarterly billing to reduce the amount we were paying, and we were receiving the bills on time regularly from the point we moved in till March 2017. I…

EON Smart In-home display
In April, I asked EON to fit a smart meter and got an in-home display which I have been using to monitor real time usage of electricity usage and historical monthly usage. When it was installed, the fitter explained that although the price displayed alongside usage would be an idea of how much I was using, it would…

Prepayment v Normal Meter
Hi All So I have had prepayment meters in the house that I bought, & live in, 3 years ago. I tend to stick £20 on each meter (Gas & Electric) each month on Payday but I don't really know whether I am better off on this type of deal. I'm currently paying: Gas 3.55 per unit & 28.31 standing charge Electric 13.73 per unit &…

Switching from British Gas to British Gas whilst under Contract
I am six months into a British Gas Energy contract. There is a cheaper tariff available on MSE Cheap Energy Club which is also with British Gas. I was wondering whether I would be charged an early exit fee by British Gas to go onto another British Gas tariff using the Cheap Energy Club service? Does anyone know?

Storage heaters
I'm fed up with lighting the mutlifuel stove every day. It's expensive to run and needs a lot of upkeep. I'm thinking of getting a storage heater to replace it but there are so many different types I feel a bit lost in an alien world of electricity. Can anybody recommend any storage heaters that are efficient and can…

Credit reference agency(/ies) used during an MSE Energy Saving Club switch
When going through the process on the site, it looks like an automatic credit check is done via MSE. Can anyone clarify which credit reference agency(/ies) are used during an MSE Energy Saving Club switch?

Smart Meter Moan and EON
3 years ago, Dec 2016, I was with BG and had smart meters fitted. A year later I switched to Bulb and after 3 months the IHD went blank so I stuck it in a cupboard. Then I went back to BG and the IHD started working again. A year later I left BG and went back to Bulb so a friend and I could get £50 each and they were…

Hoping to move house - can I change energy supplier before we go?
Hi MSE, My partner is unwell and I have had to give up my job 18 months ago to look after her. Now having very little income, we want to downsize. However, that is not possible at the moment as some works are taking place next door and nobody would buy our house given the state of next door at the moment. We don't have any…

Warm Home Discount while changing suppliers
Just did a comparison for my dad, who is eligible for warm home discount. Currently on Bulb, but EON showing around £500 cheaper, so will move to them. Question is, do we apply for WHD via Bulb while in the middle of a energy move, or wait till we move over to EON?

Why such high electricity bills?
Hello Everyone, I’m asking for some advice regarding electricity meters/bills. I will try my best not to make it too long and keep to the facts. Moved into a two bedroom flat six years ago which is on economy 7 (as we have no gas). We did what we could to take up the advantage of cheaper bills with paying by direct debit…

Scottish Power...... non stop DD increases
Will keep this as short and to the point as possible. Switched to SP three years ago, did my meter readings though the app every quarter. Noticed payments were increasing so rang SP who said they were unable to make contact to say I was in debt. Turns out they had the wrong e-mail address for me and were unable to make…

Warm Home Discount wider group?
I changed to Bristol Energy last year because the MSE comparison tool said they supported the Warm Home Discount. It was only after I'd switched that I found out they only gave it to the core group and not for disabled people like me. Which companies cater for the wider group please? I can't change until the end of the…

Crazy Exepensive energy prices

Our flat is a electricity flat, no gas so I know its going to be more expensive than usual. We're on economy 7 so know when best to heat the water etc. We have barely used to heating to be…

Energy National Database(s)
This might not affect more than a few unlucky types like me, but I discovered today that my gas and electricity meters were not correctly logged to my address and postcode on the national database: ECOES for electricity and XOSERVE for gas. They had the wrong street and postcode for some reason, nothing to do with me,…

Problems with switch to new utility provider
Hi, last month (end Sept) I used the Cheap Energy Club at MSE to switch to a new energy provider, as my old tariff was coming to an end. The estimate I was given for my average monthly direct debit by the new provider (and based on the usage I had given the energy club) was a few pounds less than I was paying and that was…
