Warm Home Discount wider group?

I changed to Bristol Energy last year because the MSE comparison tool said they supported the Warm Home Discount. It was only after I'd switched that I found out they only gave it to the core group and not for disabled people like me.

Which companies cater for the wider group please? I can't change until the end of the month but obviously I'm late in applying this year, so are there any which say you don't have to wait a certain time before claiming it?

I'm desperate as my ESA has been taken off me and I have no other income except low rate PIP.

Dont just change to a supplier which offers the WHD without comparing unit rates and standing charges first..some of the energy companies still have applications open for broader group but check the companies criteria for claiming and whether you will actually be better off if you switch.
  • Which companies? I can use the MSE comparison to find out who is cheapest, but not which companies support the broader group.

Octopus are offering WHD to broader group and have not opened their applications yet.. you can just search by supplier but some will have already closed for winter 2019/2020.
  • Thank you, I'll have a look at the comparison and see where they come :)

Be careful that you check the conditions. Many companies will not give it for PIP without the ESA.
