Scottish Power Warrant of entry

Hi Folks,

I need advice, am located in Scotland.

I have never been a Scottish Power customer but they appear to have got my flat mixed up with another. I have had repeated demands for payment of bills that are not mine. I've phoned them about this several times and it just keeps getting worse. They've now passed on this "debt" to EOS solutions who wrote a letter to my address saying they will apply for a warrant of entry to fit a pre pay meter. Which is ridiculous as am not and never have been a Scottish Power customer in the decade I've lived here. I'm feeling very harrased now and don't know what I should do. Calling them makes no difference, I'm thinking I should lawyer up. But I dont think it's fair I should have to spend money to get them to leave me alone.

Any advice?

  • As you are not a SP customer I presume you are with another supplier and have the bills/statements to prove it?

What MPAN number is on the correspondance you have? If your meter doesn't have that number the meter can't, in theory, be changed.

  • Yes. Doesn't seem to matter to them. I've even given them my meter number. Whoever on the phone agrees it's not my bill but nothing changes. The demands keep coming and now this.

WRITE a letter headed Complaint and send it by Royal Mail to Scot Power, setting out the history of your previous contacts.

With this in play SP have to acknowledge it's receipt, issue you with a complaint number and resolve the problem in 56 days

Agree with Dogshome - WRITE -forget email, forget phone
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill

Send the letter to SP's Chief Corporate Officer. You can find his name and addresss at the CEOemail website. Check what the records say about the gas supply by visiting

For electricity, ask your local distribution company. Dial 105 to find out who they are.
