Warm Home Discount while changing suppliers

Just did a comparison for my dad, who is eligible for warm home discount. Currently on Bulb, but EON showing around £500 cheaper, so will move to them.

Question is, do we apply for WHD via Bulb while in the middle of a energy move, or wait till we move over to EON?

Are you sure that this massive £500 is a real saving, not a mythical one based on Ofgem's daft rules? You might end up paying more !
Ignore all claims about savings, just do the sums yourself based on the annual cost for your annual usage in kWh obtained from actual meter readings.

Hello shaggy and thank you for your interest in switching your Dad's account to us.

If your Dad is in the Broader Group for Warm Home Discount, we're taking applications as we speak. With this group - where customers have to apply to their electricity supplier for the payment - applications are dealt with on a first come, first served basis.

We've only a certain quota for Broader Group payments and once this has been reached we'll close the scheme to new applicants. Last time (2018/19) we closed the scheme in mid-March 19 but in previous years it closed earlier in November or December.

I don't have a closing date for 2019/20 yet but I need to make you aware that we can't guarantee the scheme will still be open once your Dad's account moves over. If it is, please ask him to apply as soon as possible. Using the application form on our website is the quickest way.

Sorry to be vague shaggy. I want to be sure your Dad doesn't miss out on the Warm Home Discount payment.
