Crazy Exepensive energy prices

I have recentley moved into a 2 bed flat. Obviously with winter coming its starting to get cold so we've started to put the heating on. Our flat is a electricity flat, no gas so I know its going to be more expensive than usual.
We're on economy 7 so know when best to heat the water etc.
We have barely used to heating to be honest and I did a meter reading this morning and in 14 days we've managed to use 500kwh of electricity. We haven't used the heating that much, the boiler is timed so it comes on at specific times so we don't use that much energy and the worst of winter is yet to come!
I'm kinda nervous about using the heating if we've used that much when we've barely had the heating on in the last 14 days. Does this sound normal?

35 kWh per day.
Quite possible with all electric, but without knowing the heating system impossible to say if it is typical.0 -
Have you got an immersion heater that is on 24/7?0

35kwh a day - probably 25 at night and 10 per day - about £5 - for all your heating, hot water, cooking, lighting - not too bad a deal.
Continue to read your meters and monitor your bills.
I presume you switched to a new tariff after you moved in and are not on a standard tariff.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
Yes we switched to bulb. 16.4p per kwh on day rate
9per per kwh night rate0 -
no i dont have an immersion heater0

£5 a day is a lot of money. We are not even into winter properly yet!0

So you have a wet radiator system connected to an electric boiler running on full price electricity? That's far from normal, it's about the most expensive configuration you can have !
Seems to be compounded by not having an immersion heater, so you have to fire up the boiler, even in summer, just to get hot water?
Finally, if you have an independent boiler timer, how do you know it's always accurately synchronised with your E7 night rate? The switching times can vary by +/- 15 minutes if you have a radio teleswitch, so you may be unintentionally using more day rate electricity than you think.
Have you tried taking meter readings at the start and finish of the cheap rate periods (watch the meter switching over) to see whether a single rate tariff would be cheaper? E7 may not be doing you any favours if you don't have storage heaters.0 -
We got this system
STUART TURNER BEP 130 ELECTRASTREAM PRE-ASSEMBLED ELECTRIC BOILER - 46727
Not sure off it's immersion or not0 -

That would scare me, does that include standing charge and vat or just energy use.0 -
