Fixed tariff ends April, change early?
Our fixed tariff with SSE ends April 8th, question is do I move to a new tariff now and start paying the extra money early, or do I wait until nearer the time and risk losing out on a good deal? We are staying with SSE, which although I know it isn't the cheapest deal their customer service is amazing and right now stress…

Lower voltage sockets
Hi, my first post ever on here, so please let me know if I am out of process or anything. I overheard a colleague the other day saying that he was installing lower voltage power throughout his house, to help save a few pennies going the energy company's way (I have phrased it much nicer here! haha) Has anyone done this,…

GB Online February 18
GB Online February 18 Hi, Anyone know what the actual Elec & Gas unit and standing charge rates are for this tariiff? - can't find it online anywhere. My current fixed ends next month and they have offered this in the form of 'estimated annual costs' without any explanation of unit cost or calculation. It looks decent on…

British Gas pay as you go reset issues
Hi, We have just moved into a new house and found out that the a previous tenants debt is still on the pay as you go gas meter. The gas is turned off, no heating or water. The landlord assures me it's not capped, it just needs a British Gas engineer to reset the meter and apply some credit. Now, i mustn't have spent five…

Affect Energy - any feedback or thoughts?
So my BG Collective Fix Feb 17 is about to finish like the others on this board. The best 2 deals seem to be Iresa and Affect Energy, The reviews on Iresa are not great (50% poor vs 20% great) in comparison to Affect Energy (90% great vs 6% poor) which is £34 more expensive. Has anyone else moved to Affect Energy or uses…

Cheaper to separate Gas and Electricity suppliers
Just checked the Cheap Energy Club as my BG Collective Fix is coming to an end on 28th February. I use about 5200 kwh electricity and 19500 kwh gas each year. On my current deal I was paying about £1060 per year for both. At the end of the month I go onto BG standard tariff of £1553 per year!!! That's some jump! Cheapest…

Erroneous transfer question
I started a switch to Npower last year and to cut a long story short, they switched a neighbour's meter instead due to the address being very similar. They initiated the erroneous transfer process to switch the neighbour back to their original supplier, but this is taking a very long time. Npower says they cannot continue…

Energy Hike/Cheap Energy Club Scaremongering
Had the usual email this morning to say the start of the fuel rises are about to happen. This was captioned by 'Urgent' followed by the incitement to rush and change to the Energy Club as I would be losing out. I should imagine the majority of MSE folk are like me and are on fixed tariffs, so at least for now there is no…

Ourproperty/Petrolprices energy auction.
Hello. I got 2 emails from the above firms about an energy switch auction with one of the "the big 6" before the end of this month. The company running it is called iChoosr. Is this the same as MSE's collective switch that will happen soon? Thanks.

Strange email from SP.
This week I read my supplier was upping their prices and now they have written that they are not increasing mine. Happy days. Fixed until December 18. I will just run my big hot bath! Note, if you are with a supplier and don't test the market, and switch free with your supplier, then expect deals to get worse. Now with…

My npower journey
Just my journey with npower. I joined npower on a fixed dual fuel tariff in February last year and knowing that my tariff was coming to an end I started on the comparison web sites to make a decision about the next 12 months. Because I record my meter reads weekly and monthly I know exactly what my consumption has been for…

High Standing Charges
I've just moved into a new property and in the process of moving Energy suppliers to BG, however ExtraEnergy (current supplier that previous occupant had) have provided my first bill and there is Standing Charge of £43.15 which is charged at 68.499p per day. Should I have to pay this high charge when I didn't chose this…

COOP Tariff Online March 2017 is penalty free to switch from tomorrow. In the last 4 weeks the cost of moving to COOPs cheapest fix tariff has gone from +£10pM to +£13PM and now today +£18pm. Thats a 26% increase just in time to catch those who switched to the COOP when they were the cheapest. Could it be to pay for COOP…

Cheap Energy Club
Hi, I'm a dinosaur to all this online switching thingy. Whenever I've searched in the past I've usually found a supplier I've heard of .Today I can't say I've heard of any in the top 10 of my search results. Can these "new" companies be "relied/trusted"?

Fixed Tarrifs and Moving House
I'm just coming to the end of a fixed price duel fuel energy deal so I'm shopping round for a new tariff. I have my house up for sale at the moment, so if I go for a fixed price deal again, I would like one where the fixed rate can be transferred across to the new property that I buy - which will hopefully be within the…
