New Boiler Install - Is Power Flush Necessary?
Hi I am planning on getting a new Glow Worm boiler installed, to replace my old leaky boiler which is about 12 years old. I've been told that after installation of the Glow Worm, a Power Flush should be conducted and a magnet filter fitted. The reason given was that a 'dirty system' could invalidate the warranty on my new…

Have energy costs gone up so much?
Hi We are currently On the BG Collective Fix Feb17 Dual Fuel. When looking at the energy saving club, it is showing my best options are £170 a year extra for a variable plan and £191 a year for a fixed option.:eek: we are low users at that. I did t think energy had risen so much in the last year?? DG

Project NEXUS
Project NEXUS was due for rollout in Autumn 2015 and then it was delayed a year. The project is designed, inter alia, to automate IGT gas supply transfers. From the Ofgem website: We remain disappointed that Ofgem has had to step in to take on an active sponsorship role for Project Nexus; a programme for which industry is…

Smart meters and how Installations work
Hi I have been with E-ON for about 12 months and am free now to start looking for someone who can offer a better deal. Having said this I'd like to go for a supplier who can also offer a smart meter now and not by end of 2020 when we all should have these. E-ON cannot install smart meters at my post code yet and don't give…

Spark Energy problem
Good afternoon all, and a Happy New Year to you all. I was wondering whether you wonderful people could offer me any advice. Myself and my partner moved last year on the 31st March. Our electricity was supplied until that date by EDF to whom we sent our final readings on that date, and paid off what we owed. Between…

Termination of fixed price contract
There used to be a rule that, once you had notified your energy provider of your intention to switch providers at the end of the term, the current energy provider was obliged to continue to charge at the same price if there was a gap, in this case 5 days, following the end of fixed price time period. Is this still the case…

Eon - in credit, what happens when leaving/switching?
Hi We are currently with Eon for dual fuel and we are now on standard rate after fixed rate finished. Need to switch away now asap (been slow to sort but on the case now!). We are currently in credit by over £200 after Eon hiked up our monthly payments. What happens when we initiate a switch? Can we ask for the credit to…

Turning down TRV in same room as thermostat.
My house has an odd arrangement where by the thermostat is in the kitchen, a room I don't need heating as much as the lounge. I've heard that it's best not to use the TRV in the room where the thermostat is, but then again I'd be heating a room at full blast that I don't really need. Can anyone advise me what issues I…

Does Our 1950s Bungalow Need Windows Constantly Open?
We recently moved in to a 1950s bungalow. We are having conflicting information regarding air flow and condensation in the home. All windows are double glazed and most have trickle vents within them. Both bedrooms and the living room have air vents (two rooms have 9x9 inch vents, the other is smaller) Our issue is to do…

high electric usage
I've just had my latest bill from E-on and even more shocked than normal, I'm a single person living in a 1 bedroom flat which only uses electric. Usually my quarterly usage is around 900 kWh but this quarter it was 1200 roughly, this doesn't include heating as that is communal so paid separately. Surely this is a huge…

Cheap Energy Club: Misleading Pricing!
Bit confused with Cheap Energy Club price comparison system, having checked out the guide I'm being quoted savings that don't actually exist and am doing this comparing Avro Energy with OVO. Access to meters/supply post smart meter installation
We have our gas and electricity meters in a really awkward space in our kitchen and leaving access to it has meant I built this crazy movable cupboard unit that I can pull out into the kitchen to let us do readings (or if any maintenance work was required). Does anyone know what the access requirements will be once smart…

Two types of electricity ?
A follow up to a previous question. We have a smart meter installed, and the electricity supplier is kind enough to provide an hourly analysis of electriicity consumption on their website. The hourly consumption (kwh), except for the odd anomaly, appears to reflect what we use, but the daily total (also kwh) on which we…
