High Electricity Usage
Hi, I've been reviewing my bills trying to cut down, and am a little concerned with my electricity usage. I've used 2,400 kWh in the last three months, and annual actual is 7,509 kWh. Actual readings, i'm on British Gas Standard. It may not be too bad in reality, but i live alone in a small two bed bungalow and I'm quite…

Prepayment meter - switching supplier; how does it work?
I've moved to a flat that has prepayment meters for gas and electricity fitted. I'm still to ask the landlord, but as far as the agent said I won't be let to switch to a credit meter. How does switching suppliers work with prepayment meters? I can't find any information on the process itself anywhere. My google-fu is…

Fixed or variable? Pending energy price decreases!
I need to switch my energy supplier, but do I go with a fixed or variable in light of the pending price decreases being announced by some suppliers? My current supplier is announcing a 5% decrease if I say on variable but no decrease if I fix for a year. Or do I go variable and become a "switching tart"? Anyone else in the…

Gas consumption up every year for no reason
I installed a Vaillant boiler approximately eight years ago. For the first few years I had very low bills (at one point I was paying £10 per month). However, over the past four-ish years according to npowers's energy tracking tool, year on year my gas consumption has increased from below average use to above average use. I…

OVO energy not taking Direct Debit. Why?!
My Ovo Energy fixed Direct Debit of £117 was meant to be taken out on Monday. It's now Friday and they still haven't taken it. I've checked my emails and Ovo account log-in daily for any messages as to why, but to no avail. Has anyone had this happen to them with Ovo before? If so, what reason (if any) did they give you as…

Since having my gas meter changed, consumption seems to have increased by 50%
I've got a two year old boiler. Last November my utility company npower, changed my gas meter. I have the boiler on the same settings, times on/ times off, as I did last winter. The thermostat setting is also unchanged. By comparing bills, it seems to me that my gas consumption has increased about 50% since the meter was…

Moving gas & electric meter or new digital meters?
Hi all, I’ve just moved into my first home and am renovating. The gas meter and electricity meter are located just below the window in the front room and are the old style bulky meters with dials. They’re an eyesore and very much in the way. The location (not quite in a corner) makes them hard to box off without losing…
