EDF energy debt

My mother is on EDF ENERGY -She has a £1510 debt. Its been paid off over the last few years but EDF are not the cheapest supplier.

Is it possible to change to cheaper supplier when there is a current debt?

    No - a debt usually has to be cleared before being able to switch.

    However just ensure she is on EDFs cheapest possible tariff for any current use. Although not the best, it is still competitive, especially for gas.

    Does she have credit meters or pre pay ? If credit meters EDF Blue Price Promise Feb 2017 is fairly well priced.
