Wayleave agreement
Hi everyone
We have 2 electricity post in our agricultural land and when I contacted the utility company which owns them, I was offered £60 rental per year (£30 per post) with a back pay of up to 6 years. The cables are 11W and there is 3 of them. When asked them to remove them, they claimed that it would take years but it was possible. To us, this sounds like a very little amount. They claim that the rate is standard across UK and it's agreed amongst farmers associations, electricity companies and the Government. Is this true? Should we sign the agreement?

The amount per pole sounds very much like the amount that we've been offered as comp. for our single pole. I would prefer that the wires in our lane were all underground but that's an expensive undertaking and not likely to happen so we'll just take the £200 or so instead.0 -
