Electric Central Heating
HI At the moment I have a multifuel burner that provides my central heating and hot water, which works ok, but I cant keep the stove on all night hot enough to heat the radiators. (Even though the stove is still a decent temparature, it doesnt transfer to the back boiler) I am thinking of upgrading my central heating…

Extra Energy Price Increase On Fixed Contract?
Just noticed that Extra Energy have increased my unit rate and standing charge from the 9th March due to portal improvements and VAT. I thought that being on a fixed term contract that the price would remain the same for the period of the contract? Can they do this?

Exit Fees on the way back?
Just completed my monthly check of energy tariffs. Switch is offering the latest Collective Deal which would save me about £1.50 a month; however, I note that the tariff is showing an exit fee of £30 per fuel. Too many of us switching perhaps?

Stuck with Scottish Power - getting desperate
We moved into a new build house nearly a year ago and were told by builder that gas/elec is supplied by Scottish Power. We contacted Scottish Power as soon as the builder sent them our details to close our account. We were told "Your property is not on our system, we are not your supplier"... Double-checked with builder,…

First Utility Lied to Me
When I was considering a switch to this provider, I telephoned to check a few points. The nice lady who answered the phone told me they billed on a monthly basis, based on my usage each month. I explained it was hard for me to read my meters from my wheelchair and she assured me they would read my meters each month for me.…

Two electricity meters and switching supply
Dear Money Saving Experts I have recently tried to switch to Flow Energy, but this couldn't be done apparently as I have two electricity meters, (apparently also know as related meters) Is it possible, or a good idea, to get my meters changed to a more flexible system? Does it cost much, or am I better off overall with my…

Solar Panels only generating 59%. What should I do?
Hi everyone, We were told by the Project Solar engineer that our system is only generating 59% of what it should because of the incorrect placement of some of the panels. Project Solar rang to say that they would be writing to me with an offer to refund 41% of our initial outlay. My question is - Do you think this is a…

Help with my Npower Bill
Hi, I was just wondering if someone could help me understand my npower bill, it seems really steep but I'm not sure if that's normal. I live in a 2 bedroom flat with one other person, since November we have been paying £91 a month in Direct Debit, in February we received the bill for November, December, January which came…

Switching advice
Hi I've switched dual fuel regularly over the years with no problems. My recent switch from Ovo to Sainsbury has a niggle where Ovo have continued to draw the direct debit, which I've now cancelled. Long story but each supplier blames the other and I end up playing telephone tennis. I just want to sort it with minimum…

Cheaper to heat water continually or when needed?
we have a 3 bed semi with a boiler downstairs (old, about 12 years old) with a copper cylinder (with red jacket on) and 2 water tanks in the loft. Had a new valve fitted to the cylinder when we moved in to switch between hot water and heating (it was faulty). I asked the plumber about setting the timer up, he said as only…

First Utility offer
I am currently a First Utility customer, having swapped to them around October last year. No real grumbles so far, except - due to a mixed up reading from me - I didn't receive a bill from January, up until 15th April. All that aside, I've had an email from them today offering a "fix for 3 years". I've looked at the Tariff…

Mixed up gas meters - with an extra twist
Hi all, For the last year and half since I've moved into an apartment I've been paying gas with a gas card. Out of the 6 gas meters in the complex only one has a gas card reader. And the card worked with it so there were no problems moving in. I double checked with the landlord that it was payg with the gas and he said…

Moved house 2 months ago but haven't contacted energy suppliers yet. Can I change?
Hi, I moved into my house from rented accommodation about 2 months ago. While I've been on top of DIY I've been slack with organising my bills and I've not contacted Scottish power who provided energy to the previous owners. I did however take the meter readings when I moved in. I've used MSE tools and the 'Moving Home'…
