Switching advice

Hi
I've switched dual fuel regularly over the years with no problems. My recent switch from Ovo to Sainsbury has a niggle where Ovo have continued to draw the direct debit, which I've now cancelled.
Long story but each supplier blames the other and I end up playing telephone tennis. I just want to sort it with minimum hassle.
So my question is, where there is a problem, is there one or the other (new or existing) supplier obliged to resolve?
Cheers
Steve

Ovo continuing to bill you after the switch has completed is clearly an issue that Ovo must resolve, unless the switch date or billing data is disputed. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Ovo argue that they are waiting closing instructions and meter reading from Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's argue they've been sent. So I need to get assertive with one or other. I'll try again with Ovo then, thanks Macman. Just gets on your nerves listening to the music.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

Have you been advised yet that your switch to Sainsburys has actually taken place?
Who told you this, and does the other supplier agree?
If not, I would suggest you contact Sainsburys to sort it out, as they are the ones to lose out if the supply has not yet been switched.
Edit: When was the actual switch if this has been confirmed to you.0 -
There are some independent phone numbers you can phone. Google "who supplies my electricity/gas?" If you give them your address/meter numbers they will be able to tell you who your supplier is and when the switch occurred.0

I lent a bit more on OVO and they've picked up the baton. They've promised a final bill and refund in the next few days. Thanks guys.Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0

The final billing data should come from the incoming supplier and be passed to the outgoing supplier-so this is all the wrong way around, and JS should resend. Did you supply opening reads to JS?No free lunch, and no free laptop0

I think Ovo had received it, reading between the lines macman, and just not proessed it for whatever reason. Yes Sainsbury had all the readings from me and I think they had passed to Ovo. All sorted now hopefully and it sounds like there is residual credit to refund. Happy daysApparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc0
