Help with my Npower Bill

Hi, I was just wondering if someone could help me understand my npower bill, it seems really steep but I'm not sure if that's normal.
I live in a 2 bedroom flat with one other person, since November we have been paying £91 a month in Direct Debit, in February we received the bill for November, December, January which came to a total of £623.89, a grand total of £207.89.
Now I'm 100% sure that we could not have used that much gas, at most we have the heating on for 4 hours a day (2 in the morning and 2 in the evening) and as I say there is only two of us and we live in a tiny student flat.
When I have spoken to NPower they have said that the meter readings add up, and if anything, we should be paying more.Their bills confuse me, and the people on the phone just want to prove me wrong instead of actually helping.
Can it be that this billing is right? Please could somebody in the know set me straight. Thank you.

When did you move in? Did you submit meter readings when you moved in? Is your meter metric (m3) or imperial (ft3), and does this match what is on the bill?
How many KWhs does your bill say you've used? Is the bill based on Actual readings, or Estimates?
£600 over winter is every so slightly above average, but nothing ridiculous - energy is for most the single largest household bill.0 -
Change suppliers I was with n power they are the worst I have ever been with couldn't get a bill off them even though I sent a meter reading in every month they said they don't do bills but I would get a statement at the end of the year when I received my statement it was estimated spent hours on phone just going round in circles. So left they are absolute rubishhhh0

Unless you tell us how many kWh's, and how many days billed for, no one can help you.
Also post the tariff you are on. Telling us how much in £££'s does not reveal anything.
Is the bill based on actual or estimated readings, and does it correspond to the current meter readings?
What else do you use gas for? You only mention heating, but what about hot water and cooking?
Is the bill and DD referred to just for gas, or for dual fuel?
All this info is available from your bill and meter. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
I know it's too late now, but if you take monthly online readings with nPower you can see straight away how much it's cost using their online Energy Tracker.
For me (2 bed flat, 1 person) it was
Jan - £75
Feb - £51
Mar - £45
I don't use the gas CH much though, even in winter.
The info is very useful, as my DD is currently £45 so seems a bit low and I'll be expecting them to bump it up a bit to around £50 when the next bill comes.0 -
everyone needs to keep an eye what they are actually using its fairly simple (this is why you did maths at school - to stop people ripping you off)Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0
