Oil below $50 a barrel - can someone explain why my bills are not reducing?
Hi all, This may be a daft question given our dependence on gas but I would have expected by now that electricity costs would have significantly dropped by now - anyone know why not? If no good reason can we kick off a campaign to get the prices down asap? It would be typical if just as we hit spring that prices start to…

Eon MSE Collective switch
Well my switch finally went through 11 & 23rd Dec. Still waiting for my money back from SSE though have had the final statements. The switch has been a shambles and involved several phone calls at my expense and now they don't want to take any money. (most unusual for an energy supplier) Eon have set up the dd but not…

For those on Blue+Price Promise February 2016
This might be old news (sorry if it is), but I just added 3 months to my fix and got a lower unit price (standing charge unchanged) by switching to Blue+Price Promise May 2016. It isn't a massive saving, but only requires a few mouse clicks. ;) Make sure you check your own figures, but I saved £2.04. Blue+Price Promise…

Shocked at monthly usage for gas
Just had my statement for a months gas usage and I've used 1513 kw which is really high for me. 18 Nov - 18 Dec. Is this a usual amount for others or have I just gone over drastically? The thermostat is set at 16 and is on a timer from 5pm to 9pm and apart from the odd day, it has not been overridden.

Heat Used - Physics Question
Could anyone help with a question relating to: The amount of heat required to raise a building 500 cubic meters by 1 degree C (assuming no heat loss). I have used the internet but do not believe the answer. The calculation is: Specific Heat x Density x Volume x Temp Rise 1.00 x 1275 x 500 x 1 = 637000 Kj When I convert to…

Urgent Advice!! GAS BILLS
Hi Everyone, I need advice! I moved into a property on 09/09/11 and to date haven't paid a gas bill... When I moved in I tried to set up a supplier but the gas meter wasn't registered to any company so I just ended up leaving it and it willingly slipped to the back of my mind. I then recently got a bill addresses to the…

EON Illegally Manipulating Bills?
Hi, I've been with EON for around ~3 years now, using them for heating and electricity. Sometimes I am out of the country for 6-8 weeks at a time. One thing I've noticed, more so with my heating vs. electricity, is that the bill does not fluctuate that much when I'm gone. One would assume this would drop alot, but it…

UK Homecare (Blackburn) - think they're a scam :(
In a bit of rush on Fri to take boiler cover for my rented property, I took a basic policy online with a company called UK Homecare... but I'm deeply regretting it and wondering if they're even a real company. I recieved a Netpay reciept immediately but no confirmation or documents, so have been continuously trying to call…

Npower Hometeam - no good in an emergency
I have had two occasions in as many months when my central heating boiler has stopped working with an error code that suggested an "ignition failure". Both times I have contacted Npower Hometeam for an engineer and been told one wasn't available for FOUR DAYS! Rather than sit around freezing cold for 90+ hours I, with some…

Extra Energy - Six Monthly Bills
I switched to the Extra Energy ValuePlus Fixed Price Oct 2015 tariff in November 2014. I like to provide monthly meter readings so I can check my debit/credit however upon speaking to them today they advise they only provide six monthly bills. So, currently I am £255 in credit but that is just based on the direct debit…

Energy Club with Sainsburys deal gone awry
Hello I'm currently with Co-Op on Pioneer contract and used MSE's energy club to find a better deal. With my actual usage to hand of 1065 kWh electricity and 140 kWh gas per year MSE found a pretty amazing deal with Sainsburys Energy Price Freeze until January 2016. At £195.61 a year I was easily going to save £150 a year…

Exit Fee question
Hi, I've searched the boards and elsewhere to answer this question but I don't use the forum much so bear with me and I apologise if this is a common question. Exit fees. Which date specifically does it apply? The day you (or more likely your new provider) notifies the existing provider of the change? Or the date when the…

Let someone in to read gas meter. They took a photo. Legit?
Hi, This morning a man came looking to see the gas meter which is outside in our back garden. He was wearing a hi-vis jacket with 'gas' written on the back. I wasn't here but my mum let him in, and he went round opened it and took a picture of the gas meter. My mum asked why, he said to see if there was any plastic broken…

Npower, cant rectify my account issues in 2 years
Biggest mistake was to join this shower 3 yrs ago. From the outset, they have transposed my off peak and standard rate meter readings. Up to 2 years ago, they were able to correct this manually but this is no longer possible. 2 years ago i opened a complaint with them which has gone nowhere despite being handled by their…
