Fixing supply for 2015 with Ovo

Ovo quoted on 5 December 2014 the foll prices for a fixed contract from 10 Jan 2015 - per unit Gas: £3.21; Elec:£10.62; Std charge: £27.40. I am currently with Ovo and these prices are much lower than what I now pay.

As there have been further falls in the price of oil, and there may be a further drop due in the above prices, can I get advice on whether I can ask Ovo for a further drop before 10 Jan?

Under OFGEM rules, energy companies are only allowed to offer a limited number of tariffs. You can ask for a new quote at any time as it is only an offer. It may well be that the tariff offered to you last month has been withdrawn and replaced with a tariff with the same name and end date but different prices.

BTW, I think that you will find that the Stg Charge is 27.4 pence per day.

Gas £3.21 per what is this supposed unit ??
Standing charge £ 27.4 is that per day ??
Or are you reading the tariff wrong ??

Expect prices to drop over the next few months .

You can always cancel an Ovo contract and take out a new one . Cancellation charges £30 per fuel .

Hmm, bad day today. Must be something in the air. See the conversation linked in post 10 of this thread.

By "per unit Gas: £3.21; Elec:£10.62; Std charge: £27.40"

I suspect you mean "Gas: 3.31p; Elec:10.62p;Std charge: 27.40p" (per kWh, per kWh, and per day)

or, in your preferred pounds, "£0.0331; £0.1062; £0.274".

Of course, if you are paying more than £3.21 per unit of gas (even per imperial meter unit that's would be extortion) feel free to identify your current rogue supplier.

Thanks for your replies. I should have got my details more accurate - by per unit it should have been kWh; Stg charge: 27.4p per day. In fact the confirmed statement from Ovo shows gas 3.17 per kWh but I feel these prices are excl VAT @5%. I will ask OVO whether these prices can be improved on in view of falling prices. I was told that if there is a fall since I got their confirmed prices and before 10 Jan I will be told of a further drop. However I don't think any company will readily drop its prices even if prices continue to drop. Thanks for your useful comments.

Thanks for your reply and the corrections which I readily accept. The gas price however is 3.17 but I think the prices are excl VAT. As I have said in my reply to Hengus and JJ Egan I doubt Ovo will drop the prices any more while the oil price continues to drop.
