Green levy reduction rebates
Sorry if this has been discussed previously - I'm new to the forum. What ever became of rebates promised in response to the government reduction in green levies at the end of last year? I certainly haven't received anything from my (soon to be ex-) supplier, First Utility.

Scottish Power HomeComfort Overcharging
Hi, Between Feb 2013 and Feb 2014 I took out HomeComfort Boiler Care for £12.50 a month. Everything went fine and I didn't have to call them out once but at the end of the cover they where to raise the cost to £17, I found someone else (Npower £15). I called them and told them that I did not want to continue with their…

CH and DHW at same time - more efficient?
Hi there, Bit of a daft question but will help to solve a 'pub argument'. Is it more efficient to have the CH and DHW both on at the same time. Its a hot water cylinder tank - no combi boiler obviously. Both the tank and CH have thermostats so when either gets to temp the heating will adjust accordingly. I don't think it…

LPG/Calor boilers
Hi Does anyone have any experience and therefore advice on the use of LPG boilers for water and central heating please? We're in a "no gas" village and at present our heating needs are met by multi-fuel, (wood and solid fuel) burner through the winter and immersion heater for the water through the summer months. As time…

First Utility - complained to Ombudsman but no resolution!
Hi all, This is my first post to this forum so not sure how it works, but I would like to share my story and see if anybody has any ideas on my next moves. I'm currently living in a rented flat with my partner that is set up with First Utility, and our gas and electric metres are locked away, the landlord having the only…

Dual fuel switch from SP to EDF - a bit slow?
We switched from Scottish Power to EDF. Electric switched on 27th October, and gas on 1st November. Looking at Scottish Power website, my gas account is marked as closed, but electric is still Live. On speaking to EDF, they assure me that my gas and electric is now with them as of the above dates, but on viewing my account…

British Gas Refund Misery
Hi, hoping for some opinions and/or advice regarding British Gas. To cut a long story short BG supplied electricity to a property we lived in for around two years. During that time we queried our electricity bill with BG numerous times as the bills arriving every quarter were extortionate. BG were unhelpful and even…

Advice - electric meter bypassed
I live in London and own a property in Burnley. My tenant moved out of the property and I asked him to drop the key to a letting agent that I use. The property was empty for a year and I paid Council tax during that time. A year later I gave the keys to another letting agent and he refurbished it and asked for a new meter.…

Elec bill from First:Utility I never used??
I went to my parents and had 2 letters there from First:Utility for overdue £114.60 for electricity. I've never used them, or ever had post go to my parents as I moved out 10 years ago. It was actually addressed to number 5, not number 1 in my parents street (Parents live at number 1). I tried their contact number this…

Dimplex quantum
Hi guys Just thought this may be useful to some out there thinking of upgrading storage heaters. I currently live in an all electric flat. I had dimplex storage heaters which I believe were new in 2002. Anyway they main problem I had with the heater was the heat retention. Which of course resulted in me having to use…

How long can Ebico survive?
In the days of the two-tier tariff, Ebico appeared to offer a more easily understood alternative, but their appeal is now limited. As a fully-paid-up member of the Association of UK Scrooges, I am very happy to pay Ebico the delightfully small sum of £1 a month to pay for my occasional shower. But I am guessing that my…

I'm on Economy 10. My times for the meter registering Night rate and Day rate are Day 7:30am to 2:30pm and Night 2:30pm to 7:30am. My meter however switches to Day rate at 7:30am and doesn't switch over at 2:30pm it stays on Day rate until gone 12:15am at least! I'm therefore being charged incorrectly. how can I get a…
