Fixed rate prices?
Hi, I've recently changed my Gas & Electricity supplier to a fixed rate fee. After two months I've not an email saying my prices are GOING UP!? Are they allowed to do this? And if so, kind of defeats the point in 'fixed' pricing. Thanks.

NPower - Feeling lost...?
Hi everyone... First time using Forums so please be gentle... I wanted to put a short but very frustrating situation out there and see if anyone can offer any further advise to me or if I'm just stuck in a catch 22. The very very long story short, NPower had issues with our bills about a year ago and messed up the…

Digital meter broken
Our digital meter has broken, the screen is totally blank so we can't give a meter reading. It is being repaired tomorrow. My question is, how to we provide meter readings? can they be 'taken' from the meter when it is removed tomorrow?

I want truth about Economy 7 :)
Hi, Currently I don't have an Economy 7 plan. I heard that the suppliers must offer Economy 7 when a customer asks to switch to E7. Is that so? Does E7 require any additional equimpemt apart from a new meter? Thank you.

Solar Panels
Just looking at the possibilities of solar panels. Not quite sure what I can expect in return? Free electricity for myself plus maybe some cash back for putting power back into the grid? Or just free electricity for myself? Anyone got any experiences or thoughts on the matter? Companies who excel or who to avoid? Thanks

Transfer to Ovo has been a nightmare
I'm at the end of my patience with Ovo to the point I've had to raise a complaint to the ombudsman. The customer service has been appaling to the point they have blaimed me for my gas supply not transferring to them 2nd April!!!!!! I was suppossed to be with them 4th March and due to them forgetting to request my gas the…

Don't use gas - now getting standing charge
I have a gas meter in my house which has never been used because I don't have any gas appliances. I have lived here for over 11 years and my gas bill has always been zero (because I don't use gas) until this week when suddenly British Gas informed me that I owe them £39.78 - the standing charge for this quarter. This was…

Tariff ending, account in debit.
Hi all, I'm coming to the end of my E.On tariff and wondered if anyone had had an issue where they could have 'fixed' it that when your tariff ends, your account is in deficit. In Jan I got a letter telling me I was so much in credit and the DD was being reduced. Fine I thought, weather is getting warmer, shouldn't be a…

NPower have credited my previous bills and resent at higher rate for last year
Hi, be kind, my first posting. On Saturday I received a reminder for my electric bill payment which instead of the normal £30/40 was for £622.08, seems I have paid the wrong rate for a year and they have reversed my bill and resent them out, customer services will only want to know 'how do I want to pay', I have asked to…

wrong meter reading
Back in Sept 2013 I had a new gas cooker fitted and found that there was a leak on the meter. we had a new one fitted that day. The engineer did not consult us on meter readings when he changed the meter and did not put the reading or meter number on the outside of the meter. On the following day I entered my meter reading…

npower - gas meter safety inspection
I'll prefix this by saying I've already started a transfer to a new supplier, but that isn't a quick process. The meter is also indoors. Having some trouble (and amusement at the level of competence) at the moment, looking for any advice on where else I can do to avoid the shock of finding my door has been forced while I'm…

No gas supplier, it would seem
Quick question I hope someone can help with - there are similar questions on here, but none of them answer mine. I moved house a month ago. We have sorted the electric supplier, but as yet don't know who our gas supplier is. The landlord doesn't know, and I've called the Enquiry Helpline, which gives me the MPRN number,…

Has the ofgem plan for a maximum 4 tariffs been scrapped?
Has the Ofgem plan for a maximum of 4 tariffs from each supplier been scrapped? It seems several energy companies are bringing out a different tariff every month, for example EDF Blue or Extraenergy v1-v4 in the space of a few months. I thought there was to be a maximum of 4 tariffs from each suppler and they had to move…

Fischer Smart Technology Electric Storage Heaters
Hi, I live in a small (70 sq meter) cottage built around 1780. The floors are stone-flags lying directly on the ground (very cold), the walls are cob and stone and approx one meter thick (i.e. very good insulation), the loft is small but insulated and the windows are double-glazed. We have no central heating but we do have…

Small Flat Mangement Company Switching Electricity Supply
Hi I wondered if anyone could give me some advice. I'm in a slightly unusual situation and I'm not sure what to do. I'll try to explain. I live in a building that has been converted into four flats. The flats each have their own electricity meter but there is a fifth meter that is only connected to one plug socket in the…

shock gas bill
I opted to pay my gas bill by direct debit 4 years ago because I hate recieving paper bills. What a huge mistake on my part! British Gas tried to collect over £4000 by direct debit even though I have a variable direct debit with them and they were collecting money on a monthly basis. My meter was being read on a regular…
