Cornwall Together - Utilities - 'Better Buying Together'
http://www.cornwalltogether.com/en/ I signed up to the above, which promises energy discounts due to collective purchasing, however I just reviewed my offer and am somewhat puzzled. My quotes were all more expensive than what I currently pay. That doesn't surprise me as I fixed at a good time. However what does surprise me…

ScottishPower took payment for final bill when they owe me money
I recently switched from ScottishPower to First Utility and got my final bills through. I had a dual fuel account with 1 direct debit setup which they used to take payments for the joint account. When I got my final bill through I got one for gas where they owed me £66.12 and another for electricity where I owed them…

Hi All, I recently purchased a shared ownership flat from Notting Hill Housing. They use SW Energy to manager the gas usage. I have to pay 0.08981 per kwh. There is also a monthly standing charge of £8.96 and a management fee that is paid to SW Energy of £10.89. The flat is a one bedroom flat, I moved in in mid September,…

EDF direct debit manipulation
Good old EDF - they never get any better do they? My mother's DD was put up from 125 to 180 in september despite being a little in credit. She hadnt noticed this so I investigated today. The basis of this was an 'annual statement' This 1. used consumption for the last 12 months, (so far so good) 2. applied unknown factors…

Warning Warm Home Discount
Regarding the Warm Home Discount which if you are eligible it’s not as straightforward as it was when it was granted to me last year. I was told it would run until 2015 and I wouldn’t have to reapply I would automatically receive it providing my circumstance’s remained the same. It’s not the case if you change your…

Privatisation of British Gas
Is it just me or has privatisation increased the costs of gas dramatically. Before privatisation British Gas, was the only supplier of gas and had great bargaining powers when negotiating the purchase of gas from countries like Norway. After privatisation there are now many gas companies negotiating with suppliers of gas -…

Help with British Gas!!
Hi, British Gas keep saying we owe them around £800 for a month's worth of electricity (in July) from back in 2011. We managed to find the meter readings and have sent these to them repeatedly which show that they have clearly made an error with their stored readings. Something you'd think they would work out anyway since…

Hi I changed gas and electricity supplier to First Utility over two years ago to have smart meters installed with the aim of saving money. Without noticing the meters failed and my gas and electricity was estimated (I know I should have checked the bills) I only really noticed when they started taking £300 a month out of…

We are very careful when using our electricity- switching off plugs, tv is rarely on and ebergy saving lighhtbulbs. It seems every 3 months the bill is climbing…

Should i switch to Economy 7/10
We have 3 kids under 9 and so we regularly have the washing machine, the dishwasher and the tumble drier on what feels like simultaneously. I appreciate that we could be hanging clothes up to dry but that is an argument i lost years ago. My question is this: If I schedule these power sucking machines to run at night rather…

it's quicker, but is it cheaper?
I currently have a gas hob, which I find very slow for bringing water to the boil (for example for cooking pasta). So I've taken to boiling the kettle, then pouring the water into the pan and bringing it back to the boil on the hob. It saves time, obviously - but is it cheaper to heat the water using gas, or using the…

energyhelpline.com
I'm really disappointed with the service received by energyhelpline.com who I used following advice from this website. I signed up in August for a deal with ScottishPower and received an email saying that my application would be put on hold until the end of September, when my deal with my previous supplier ran out.…

I'm moving house but am in debt with E.on. Do i have to settle up before we go?
Or can i carry the debt over to the new house. I don't know who the supplier is of the new house yet but if it isn't E.on could i just switch to E.on straight away when i get there and continue to pay off my debt plus our normal consumption like we are doing now? If anyone has any ideas? Thank you :)

In process of changing electricity supplier - Meter Broken?
Hi We're in the process of changing from Eon to Sottish Power and have been asked to provide a meter reading to Scottish Power. So at 4pm today Our meter readings were as follows: R2 (flashing) 19654 R1 08472 Then at 4:30pm R2 flashing 19655 R1 08472 So I would read this as R2 being our Day rate? However on our Eon bills…
