Cheapest utilities for customers on income based JSA
Hi Does anyone know who the cheapest suppliers are for gas and electric for customers receiving income based JSA? I have heard that all suppliers have cheap rates for people on means tested benefits, but they don't advertise these rates. Advice would be gratefully received :)

Hi all, Long time reader, first time poster. Thought it might be useful to see if anyone else has had this SPECIFIC same problem with First Utility ( I know there are loads of other threads - wish I'd read them first!) I submit my reads to FU each month and was surprised to see when I submitted my reads Jul 2012 they…

I've just moved to a new room and today a bunch of edf ppl charged in saying my landlord did not pay the bill and they even got a warranty from court. Changing gas bill to partners name... Is this legal?
I am just wondering if the following would be legal: I have a prepayment gas meter which takes lots of money for debt, it's unsustainable I can't even put the heating on anymore. I want to pay less until I get a reliable job but the company doesn't want to hear it. My bf has just moved in... Can I get my bf to phone up to…

Replacement gas meter
We had a new gas meter in September 2011 and despite several requests we have still not received a gas bill. Is there a time limit on how long a company can bill for fuel? We are currently several hundreds in credit on our direct debit payments as we have been paying for both gas and electric.

EDF have still not responded to my complaint
I've been having some problems with EDF and recently they have sent me a bill which isn't right. It's not just a few £, they want £226.29 which isn't owed. I have sent a complaint e-mail following the advice I received here. I received a confirmation e-mail straight back saying; "Thank you for your email addressed to the…

Anyone else not heard from Simply Switch???
I used the link on this website for Simply Switch to change over my gas and electric. Decided to sign up with Scottish Power and put in my bank details for the direct debit. I haven't received an email confirmation from SS or Scottish Power. I have emailed SS requesting a response/update. That was 4 days ago and I have…

Help - they have robbed me!
I called Npower in June as I knew the annual tariff that I had signed up for was due to end within the next month or two. I was also upset that I hadn't received the direct debit discount on my last bill. They told me that they only give the DD discount at the end of the year, fair enough I made a few comments of why can't…

Which one is the meter No.
One of the friends who's Energy Accounts I monitor has just had a brand new Elec. telemeter fiitted by BG - This replaced one of the very old 'Dial' meters that had caused huge over- billing problems. I managed to get her switched to SP's 'Online Fixed Energy March 2014' just before it closed, but thus far BG haven't…

Hi I was a customer with Powergen about 5-6 years ago. We moved into a rented property and provided Powergen with the meter reading for both gas and electric and set up payment with them. Just over a year later we received a call from them stating that we hadn't been billed for about a year and as we had been using their…

Moved into my first flat. No idea about energy!
Hi, my Mum talks about this website all the time so I thought I'd give it a try. I've just moved into my first flat with my boyfriend, and we're trying to pick an energy supplier to sign up with. But we have no idea what amount of energy we will use so it's hard to find out what the best tariff is. It's a two bedroom flat,…

Pay Monthly Boiler Replacement - Who?
Hi I recall seeing a advert on TV for a replacement combi boiler where it was on a pay monthly deal that included breakdown cover in the monthly repayments. I think our now at least 13 year old boiler may be beyond repair an due to circumstances this may be the only way to resolve the problem. Who offers this type of…

Hi, I'm with Scottish Power for my Gas & Electricity using Online Energy Saver 16 (No Standing Charge). The question is do I stick and risk the price hikes in the…

Swaled Fixed Discount to 2014
I have suddenly found that this scheme which I signed on to in February, 2012, has been changed. Instead of a fixed discount off each bill I now will only have approximately £40 per year discount. The discount on my last bill was £62. Can Swalec do this? The agreement was until 2014. It will mean that, with the price…

British gas price increase 223%
Hi: We are by definition a micro business, 15 holiday flats let out. Having some refinancing issues, we unfortunately ran into arrears with British Gas. To "help" us I guess (!?), they now inform us we are out of contract, and unless we immediately settle all our o/s debt with them in full AND pass their new account credit…
