Help - they have robbed me!

I called Npower in June as I knew the annual tariff that I had signed up for was due to end within the next month or two. I was also upset that I hadn't received the direct debit discount on my last bill. They told me that they only give the DD discount at the end of the year, fair enough I made a few comments of why can't they share equally over the 2 bills they produce a year and called them greedy.
I think because of my rant the rest of the call wasn;t recorded. I only had a moan and not aa shouting match but hey.
I received my next bill last week and the direct debit had been applied, however my new tariff hadn't taken effect and I have been put on to a new higher standard green tariff.
I asked them to recal the conversation but they said there are no notes asking about the tariff change.
They have told me to find out who I spoke to and what tarif it was that I was to go on? I can't recal the name of the person I spoke to or the tarif name. I can recal the time and date of the phone call from my BT bill.
What do I do now as the new bill is double what it should be :(

N'power don't change - The D/D discount has always been something of scam
If they issue the second yearly bill before they have collected the 12th D/D, and it's amazing how often this happens, you won't get your discount until the next bill by which time you will have already paid 5 or 6 contributions towards the next one.

    The forgetten tariff
Go to a Switch site - I tend to use switchwithwhich - fill in the questionaire to the point when you have entered your supplier as n'power - You will then have a drop down menu listing all of their tariffs for you to tell the site which tariff you are on - Hopefully seeing a complete list of the past & present tariffs will jog your memory

If it works write n'power a letter headed COMPLAINT listing the date you phoned to go onto that tariff

  • Thanks! I will do! If it's not one thing it's another with me at the moment.I feel like all I am doing is complaining. I have a complaint in with Audi asthey recalled my car for a fuel problem. This made another part malfunction andthey charged me for the privilege!

I have just been reviewing my bills with Npower and note that they havent paid my DD discount since May 2009 - when I reminded them that it hadnt been applied. I have calculated that they have overcharged me £120 (3 years @ £40 py. I have emailed them for a response. Will keep you posted.:(

Raise a complaint about them not applying your tariff change. Its going to be easier to just apply it than continue to argue with you and end up with a costly fee when you go to the ombudsman.
