Which one is the meter No.
One of the friends who's Energy Accounts I monitor has just had a brand new Elec. telemeter fiitted by BG - This replaced one of the very old 'Dial' meters that had caused huge over- billing problems.
I managed to get her switched to SP's 'Online Fixed Energy March 2014' just before it closed, but thus far BG haven't issued any bills for the new meter which would show it's number.
What I do have is a copy of a photo of the meter which I advised her to take on change-over day, but can only guess at which of the two numbers on the meter are it's serial number
In descending order, the front of the meter shows:
Property of Meter Fit 3 Ltd
A Bar Code
BGSML 300659729
The screen
Single Phase Watt Hour Meter
A Bar Code
Z12NO91977 This I suspect is the meter No. OK ?
Advice much appreciated

It looks to me like you are right.
The N in the middle signals the meter is registered to (what was once) UUNL who act as Meter Fit (NE or NW).
Keep a hold of the exchange date, in & out readings, and the serial number, along with readings on the day she swaps to SP.
Just in case...0 -
that number, Z12NO91977 is the meter number0

The meter number is as advised above.
Was it changed and the switch started part way through a billing period? If so, they should just show it in the final bill.
A word of caution if this is the case, one of the known industry issues causing massive consumption spikes is a switch close to a meter change where the suppliers Data Collector doesn't update prior to receiving the closing reading via the new side. So, if the bills don't match, this can be a cause bit its fairly easy to unpick but can take a few weeks extra.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Thanks all - As I asked her to do the customer photographed both the outgoing and incoming meters on change day, so I am reasonably well armed to deal with any industry screw-ups0
