Keypad meters - does topping up lock in current prices?
I have a keypad meter, and PowerNI (Northern Ireland electricity company) are going to put up prices soon by as much as 20%. If I buy the maximum £175 topup allowed, does this lock in today's prices and therefore I make a 20% saving for the next few months until the next topup?

I just spoke to an advisor today who has knocked £200 off my bill given me lots of good advice and he's sending me an eco kettle…

Not topped up my gas for months!
I topped up my gas in march this year and had non stop gas since then. I noticed after a few weeks and someone came to read the meter but he just checked it and went. I then rang the supplier to tell them and they sent an engineer out who said he'd fixed it but nothing changed. I've had lots of people read the meter and…

Wrong in Principle
Ive read lots of threads about the price increases. No one seems to pick up that the method of charging is unfair.Surely the first layer of consumption should be very cheap thus low frugal users such as pensioners, single persons households benefit from low prices. The second layer for average and hifgh users should be at…

Evening all Looking for a bit of advice on average gas consumption as ours has just gone down dramatically in the last quarter. Background re house - it's a two bed 1850s cottage that we are currently doing a renovation on. When we moved in, there was no central heating and the gas boiler was only used to heat water (all…

Scottish Power to EDF 2014 Fix? - but with cancellation fee
What would you do? EDF Energy are one of the last to put their prices up, so by comparison they have better deals - for now. Not for long. With British Gas? Submit a meter reading asap
If you, like me, are with British Gas, try to submit new meter readings today (or asap after) to coincide with their price increase for both gas & electricity. Although not guaranteed, they SHOULD use the figures to accurately calculate what KWh should be billed at the old & new rates, rather than simply guesstimating…

They must as all I have tested give substantial savings for my annual consumption 14000 kWh gas and 3000 kWh elec, even those which have upped prices. I used Energy Help Line, U Switch , and Simply Switch. The last was utter rubbish: it promised savings of ~£300 pa!!! I had checked that kWh had been chosen. Even worse was…
