Not topped up my gas for months!

I topped up my gas in march this year and had non stop gas since then. I noticed after a few weeks and someone came to read the meter but he just checked it and went. I then rang the supplier to tell them and they sent an engineer out who said he'd fixed it but nothing changed. I've had lots of people read the meter and they haven't noticed anything.

I got a statement this morning saying the balance is £390 debit. It says over the page £10 credit March payment received with thanks.

What does it mean? :(

Sounds like something got stuck and you owe them for £390 of gas used... it might of been better if you insisted there was still a problem as now you have a large bill for gas that you used surely you realised you would have to pay for what you were using at some point?

£390 debit means that you are in debit to the tune of £390...
What did you think it meant?

Of course I did. But if I've rang them to tell them and explain til I'm blue in the face what more can I do? I have explained to them over the phone on more than 3 occasions and when they have come to read the metres. I even tried topping up after the engineer came out but nothing happened obviously.

To macman - I have never had a bill from them just this statement. So it all doesn't make any sense to me with all the kilowatts and the way its set out.

  • Should have put by something weekly away till you received the bill as you knew were using it and knew it was not charging you.

you need to ask them to change your faulty meter
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

If the meter says £0.00 credit and yet you still have gas, thats a good clue..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

As you can see in my post if you had read it properly you will see I noticed after a few weeks.

To everyone else, I had them come out to FIX the meter, but the person who came obviously didn't. I've rang them to tell them that I haven't paid for gas for months only for someone to come and read the meter and thats it NOTHING its still the same.

What more can I possibly do than what I have done already. Unless I am speaking to them in a different language, this is not my fault. Its not as if I have hidden it and tried to get away with it I have told them. But you're making me out to be some thicko who hadn't got a clue.

Has the meter reading changed in any way?

Does the bill say the meter was showing this figure and is now showing a larger figure.

If the meter isn't going round, how can they tell if you owe anything, or what you owe?

Who's the supplier? It sounds like a whole new meter might be in order.

To stop the bill getting any bigger, might be worth either putting the money aside, or topping up regularly to show willing.

They can back bill for up to 12 months so it's a while before it's in your interest to let it carry on.

I'm not sure if the numbers have changed I don't really know what it all means to be honest.

I will start to put something to one side thank you I never thought of that. I had however been paying someone elses bill for ages after I first moved in as it wasn't a prepayment meter then so thought it might have had something to do with that I don't know. But sooner or later like you say that I going to cotton onto what I have been trying to tell them and I'm going to end up with a massive bill.
