Hijacked accounts
With all the discussions about energy suppliers on here, and following another post about someone having their supplier changed without authorisation, I've decided to start a new thread. Do other people feel as I do, that energy suppliers should NOT be allowed to start supplying a new customer, UNTIL they have a signature…

am i missing the obvious?
won't the cheapest gas/electric simply be the lowest cost per kwh/ unit of gas (or whatever they are measured in)?? if so can you easily find what these costs will be from one company to the next before i decide who to pick when fixing?

What is your combined bill vs type of house?
I was talking to someone yesterday moaning about the cost of electric and gas. She said: it was about £250. I said "well thats not bad for a quarterly bill. No she said that's per month!! why don't you use a comparison site? Nah, I ended up paying a thousand more after I did that! Is it well insulated? Yes" I find it…

Homeserve -- emergency household cover -- buyer beware
I hope I'm posting this in the right place but I wanted to warn people about Homeserve and the cover it provides for boilers, central heating etc. Briefly, we moved into our house about six years ago and bought cover with Homeserve for the boiler, central heating, electrics, drains, and plumbing. We noticed an intermitent…

Price comparison sites - DO NOT TRUST THEM
I use a spreadsheet I have created to work out the best tariffs. You just enter: units used in a year (kwh), tier 1 and tier 2 (if applicable) prices, tier 1 limit and any other discounts. I got the tariffs from all the big players and put them in. The result was British Gas gave me a saving of £300 (websaver 11) over the…

Stolen Electricity!
last year refurbishment of my flats and block was carried out by Lengard, a building contractor on behalf of Southwark Council. Due to the fact that I work, I left a set of keys with the Resident Liaison officer, so that they could access my property to carry out works. In November I was away for around 5 days in which…

Please help. Do I have to pay for Electricity??
Myself and my girlfriend rent out a two bed flat. When the old tennants left they sent a meter reading (apparently) to Utility Warehouse of 11338, this is supposed to have happened on the 30/10/2011. When the estate agent read the meter on the 3/11/10 it was 11684. The flat had been left empty literally no one had been in.…

Gas and Electricity Rip Off
I currently work for one of the companies that sells for one of the larger German energy companies. This company has recently finally fired two of their worst culprits for blagging (Lying to customers about price, not mentioning standing charges, selling to empty houses, signing customers up when they say no). These…

BG stupidly high bill
OK, I have to accept some responsibility for this for just setting up a DD and forgetting about it. Still.... I moved into my current house in July 2008, and submitted an opening meter reading of 1818. I set up a DD of £58/month on a budget plan. In November 2010, for some reason, my DD failed. I didn't notice, which is…

Chasing in Coaxial cable - is it worth it?
Hi, I am purchasing a Victorian home that needs a complete re-wire. I currently use Sky and since I need to make a mess of the house chasing in new electricity cables, I thought I might hide all the unsightly Coaxial cable for the Sky box in the walls. Does anyone know whether this is possible/advisable. I want Sky in two…

Switching to EDF using EnergyHelpLine
When my E.ON fixed tariff comes to an end at the start of July, I'm thinking of switching to EDF's fixed tariff via EnergyHelpLine.com. Just wondering how online access gets setup when you switch in this way? i.e. how to you get issued with username/password?
