With all the discussions about energy suppliers on here, and following another post about someone having their supplier changed without authorisation, I've decided to start a new thread.

Do other people feel as I do, that energy suppliers should NOT be allowed to start supplying a new customer, UNTIL they have a signature from the new customer?

There are far too many cowboy salesmen switching people without authorisation, and mistakes being made by the companies themselves, or, even customers giving the wrong address.

Energy suppliers need to understand that houses cannot make contracts, and cannot be taken to court for non payment of bills!
It is the occupier (assuming no recent changes.) who is the customer, and they need THEIR permission to supply the premises they occupy.

This seems SO simple, but instead, we get all these mistakes happening.

It wouldn't stop problems, sales staff still slam customers one way or another either by forging a signature or saying 'sign this to say I have called'.

The only way this will stop is to cease all commission for sales staff. Personally I think you have to be crazy to buy energy from a doorstep salesperson anyway, I haven't met one yet who has ever told the whole truth.
