Help needed regarding outstanding Eon bill from 2009
Changed suppliers in 2009 from Eon to British Gas and never received a final bill from Eon, they sent me an estimated final bill with an amount owing of £147 which I had queried as only couple months before that i'd been about £250 in credit. I telephoned them in April 2009 to explain this and they said they would look…

Costs for gas/electric for a single person living in Sheffield?
Hey, I'm about to move to my own place, and I need an idea of how much I will be spending each month on utility bills. I privately rented for a year when I was living away at university - three of us were getting electricity bills of £150+ per month when we were constantly freezing and barely turned on the hot water -…

First Utility - Nightmare
First Utility is the worst company I have ever experienced in my 60 odd years of being a senior manager in business, and have before me solid documentary evidence to highlight incompetence which frankly is beyond the bounds of reality. The first thing they did was never to send bills, after I signed up with them, despite…

EDF arrears problem
Hi, I owe EDF (UK) £1000+ on my electric bill. I knew I was very late with payment and estimated the bill to be around £600-700. I lost my salaried job via the credit crunch and a company going bankrupt (I work in music industry) and have since switched to freelance. I have been working for 9 months for one client who paid…

The other day we received a call from someone claiming to be from our electricity supplier saying that they are coming to change our electricity meter, because it is 'old and the new rule is that it should be replaced'. They knew our details (electricity meter serial code etc.) so it seemed legit and we booked them to come…

Gas back boiler servicing
I have a baxi bermuda back boiler and occasionally the major utilities have special offers on for servicing. i've also read that it's not necessary to have the boiler serviced and money is better spent by having a carbon monoxide alarm. I will be getting a carbon monoxide alarm anyway. As mine is a back boiler in a…

Evidence of value of remoska and heated towel rail
I know there are threads on here which show clever sums about how much less SCs and Remoskas can cost to run, but my OH this week got a CHEQUE from the elec company for £600 because he'd been paying too much on the 'drip feed' over the past year. The only things that were different were the fact that I bought a Remoska…

EDF Advice please
I have been on EDF online v5 tariff for a couple of years now. Today I received a letter saying they are moving me to the standard tariff. When I look on the comparison sites it says EDF online V6 is best deal for me. Can I ask EDF to put me on this rather than standard tariff they have moved me to? Thanks
